Job Description

R.J. Corman Railroad Company is currently seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team in Westlake, LA.

Responsibilities:

• Perform the duties of the switching crews they supervise.
• Fill in for the Operations Manager in his absence.
• Apply safety rules and procedures.

Specialized or or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:

• Track maintenance experience preferred.
• Mechanical knowledge preferred.
• Familiar with and able to apply safety rules and procedures.
• Good communication skills.
• Prior supervisory experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to perform physically strenuous work.
• Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner.
• Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 lbs.
• Able to push and pull with up to 150 lbs of force to throw a switch.
• Must be able to lift, carry, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, manually manipulate, grasp, reach out, climb, kneel, bend, twist, and push/pull.
• Available 24/7/365.

Environmental Conditions:

• Work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Work is performed outside in varying types of environmental conditions.
• Position involves extended periods of strenuous physical activity under various field and weather conditions.
• Work may involve confined spaces.
