About the Team

The Visual Merchandising team drives in-store execution of Williams Sonoma brand standards and merchandising strategies across all stores. The team develops clear visual direction that translates product priorities into compelling store presentations, supporting seasonal storytelling, category updates, and key business initiatives.

Visual partners closely with Merchandising, Planning, and Field teams to ensure consistent and accurate visual execution across the store fleet.

About the Role

The Assistant Visual Manager supports the development and execution of seasonal floorsets, perimeter updates, and visual merchandising initiatives across all Williams Sonoma stores. Reporting to the Senior Visual Manager, this role translates merchandising strategies into detailed floorplans, presentation guides, and field communication tools that enable accurate store execution.

This role requires strong floor-planning skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Floorsets & Product Presentation

  • Develop and maintain detailed store floorplans and product adjacency mapping that translate merchandising strategies into executable store presentations
  • Create visual floorset guides and presentation packets including annotated floorplans, product placement diagrams, and execution notes for store teams
  • Ensure visual materials are accurate, merchant-approved, and delivered on schedule for field execution

Perimeter & Category Updates

  • Develop visual direction for perimeter category updates including product placement, fixture positioning, and product density across wall presentations
  • Translate merchant assortment updates into clear visual execution guidelines for stores
  • Partner with Field teams to address execution questions and support consistent visual standards across locations

Mock Store & Visual Testing

  • Assist in building mock store presentations to test product placement, fixture layouts, and visual storytelling prior to field rollout
  • Document mock store setups and translate final presentations into clear visual communication for stores

Props, Fixtures & Asset Coordination

  • Track and document fixture and prop requirements for seasonal floorsets and perimeter updates
  • Partner with procurement and operations teams to order, allocate, and distribute visual props and fixtures
  • Maintain organized records of visual assets to support future floorsets and visual initiatives

New Store Openings & Special Projects

  • Support New Store Openings by adapting visual floorplans and presentation materials to accommodate varying store layouts
  • Assist with special visual merchandising projects and store refresh initiatives as needed
  • Travel as required to support New Store Openings and key visual merchandising projects

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Planning, and Field teams to align visual direction with product priorities and inventory flow
  • Manage multiple concurrent visual projects while meeting key milestone dates

  • 2–4 years of experience in visual merchandising with multi-store responsibility
  • Strong creative visual merchandising background with the ability to translate product strategies into compelling store presentations
  • Strong floor-planning and space-mapping skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign required)
  • Proficient on Mac OS and Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Ability to travel for New Store Openings and special visual merchandising projects as needed

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer
  • Ability to lift or move fixtures, props, and product during mock store setups as needed
  • Ability to work in a corporate office environment

The expected starting pay range for this position is $59,000 - $69,300. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
