Job Description

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment.

You will be responsible for:

  • achieve all WestK Performing Arts (PA) venues - Xiqu Centre, Freespace and WestK Performing Arts Centre - budgeted utilization and revenues target;

  • hands-on role in promoting WestK PA venues to potential hirers and develop new business opportunities with hirer acquisition initiatives to achieve set KPIs;

  • communicate and manage relationships with existing and potential hirers;

  • manage, coordinate and confirm space availability with contribution to occupancy, income and artistic penetration;

  • issue and process all venue booking related documents;

  • coordinate with Artistic, Technical and Productions, Venue Operations and across departments for booking logistics and execution;

  • stay connected with industry and relevant venue partners with access to most updated market information and conditions;

  • manage and support business projects which include liaison and contractual work with partners and vendors; and

  • performing any duties from time to time as reasonably as assigned by the Authority.

You should:

  • possess a recognised university degree in performing arts/cultural studies, hospitality/tourism, business management or equivalent;

  • have 4 years of working experience of which 2 years of relevant experience are in venues, hotels or event production agencies;

  • possess relevant experience in PA programme operations and have a good understanding of the PA scene in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific preferred

  • possess a can-do attitude and customer service oriented mentality;

  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain good relationship with existing hirers, potential clients and internal stakeholders; and

be proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese

About West Kowloon Cultural District Authority

Stretching across 40 hectares of reclaimed land, WestK is one of the largest cultural projects in the world, blending art, education and open space.

Its vision is to create a vibrant cultural quarter for Hong Kong where the local arts scene can interact, develop and collaborate. Providing 23 hectares of public open space with two kilometres of vibrant harbour-front promenade it will also include a variety of arts and cultural facilities that will produce and host world-class exhibitions, performances and arts and cultural events.

A Development Plan for the District, based on well-received Foster + Partner’s Conceptual Plan, was approved by the Chief Executive-in-Council in January 2013. Overlooking the magnificent Victoria Harbour, the District will begin to take shape over the next decade.

By developing this sizable project in phases we can start to bring the district to life. The Xiqu Centre, Freespace, Art Park, M+, Hong Kong Palace Museum and Lyric Theatre Complex, will be developed as a first batch of facilities aiming for opening to the public.

Although the whole project will take time to complete, we are already busy organising a wide range of cultural activities on site. Visit our website for details of upcoming events. The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District. Led by the Board and an executive team comprising experts from different sectors, our vision is to build a vibrant cultural quarter for the city, dedicated to bringing together local and international artists and audiences to be inspired and to celebrate the arts.
