The Assistant Shipping/Receiving Manager position is responsible for successfully leading a team of talented individuals to achieve the goals for their department.
Key responsibilities include team leadership, effective communication, assigning work duties, maintaining high productivity within their team, achieving goals for on-time delivery and quality, organization, safety and continuous improvement.
Reports To: VP of Operations
Key Responsibilities
RESULTS
Team Leadership 20%
- • Provides a minimum of one piece of valuable feedback in Threads every month for a team member
- • Consistently reads feedback and follows up with relevant training, mentoring, encouragement and accountability for individuals on their team
- • Ensures reviews are completed on schedule for each team member; reviews and compensation are accurate, consistent and effectively communicates employee standing within the organization
- • Promotes safe working environment for all employees
Department Productivity 20%
- • Coordinates and directs the shipping & receiving team towards efficiently completing their objectives
- • Monitors material inventories, production schedules and scheduled shipments to plan daily/weekly work assignments
- • Ensures accurate inventory and investigates variances, making adjustments as needed
On-Time Delivery Performance 20%
- • Coordinates with production and sales to meet all customer deadlines and delivery dates
- • Proactively communicates to understand and accommodate order revisions, cancellations, custom products or expedited shipments
- • Coordinates packaging materials and shipping supplies and orders the needed items to complete upcoming orders
Quality Objectives / inventory management 20%
- • Meets or exceeds established quality standards for reliability and accuracy in the department
- Maintain an accurate finished goods / raw material inventory in all shipping and receiving areas
- • Inspects materials, products, packaging and shipping labels according to Company quality procedures
- • Identifies the root cause of any errors and implements corrective actions to prevent similar issues
Safety & Organization 10%
- • Ensures all Company safety procedures are followed and that potentially unsafe conditions are corrected immediately
- • Maintains an effective organizational system in the department, with all inventory clearly labeled and stored in the correct locations
- • No lost-time accidents within their area
- • Housekeeping and organization of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods.
Process Improvement 10%
- • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction in Company's shipping, receiving and inventory management processes
- • Leads the successful implementation of the identified process improvements initiatives

QualificationsRequirements
Educational and experience requirements include:
Relevant experience leading teams in a warehouse or shipping & receiving role
Proven ability to provide training, mentoring, accountability and motivation to individuals on their team
Proven ability to consistently meet productivity, on-time delivery and quality objectives
Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job
Advanced knowledge of production safety and procedures
Strong math and problem solving skills
Strong work ethic and consistent attendance
Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
Demonstrated ability to maintain organization and safety within their department
