A DAY IN A LIFE

As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:

Commercial Strategy Development

  • Effectively execute established commercial strategies to achieve revenue targets and market penetration goals.
  • Establish, document, and standardize operational workflows to ensure the sales team operate efficiently, minimize errors, and scale smoothly.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, freight forwarders, and industry partners.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions, act as the primary point of contact for client troubleshooting and custom operational solutions.

Sales and Freighter Management:

  • Oversee sales activities to achieve and exceed sales targets through proactive business development efforts.
  • Monitor real-time market pricing dynamics and competitor rates. Prepare pricing proposals and recommend rate adjustments to the Manager based on operational costs and sudden market shifts.
  • Monitor and analyze forecasts and capacity allocations across freighters, passenger flights, and third-party providers, ensuring data accuracy and optimal load factor management.

Performance Analysis:

  • Manage the data pipeline for sales performance and customer feedback for strategic decisions.
  • Prepare and present reports with weekly/monthly performance metrics into actionable reports for the Manager, highlighting variances against targets.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Serve as the central operational bridge between sales, operations, and third-party freighter providers to ensure seamless booking-to-delivery workflows.

Team Leadership:

  • Conduct training and development programs to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the sales team.
  • Coordinate the daily tasks of the junior sales executives. Assist in coaching sales techniques and operational logistics.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role:

      • Strong and proven understanding and network of the local and crossborder cargo air-freight landscape
      • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into commercial decisions
      • Demonstrated experience in a senior executive or assistant manager role with the ability to guide junior staff and manage cross-functional projects.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field.
      • 3-5 years of business development experience, with at least 3 years in air cargo logistics or freight forwarding.
      • Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and closing deals.
      • Proven experience in designing workflows, writing SOPs, or structuring business processes.
