Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Company: AISIN World Corp. of America

Department: Business Management, Sales - Toyota Unit

Location: Northville, MI

This position will provide guidance and support to the Sales department. The main function is to manage accounts of assigned programs. This position will work directly with the customers, as well as internal team members.

Position Responsibilities

The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:

  • Provide guidance and monitor account(s) of assigned program(s) by addressing commercial / open issues, quoting requested changes, and ensuring target achievements.
  • Contribute with the launch of new programs and monitor/recover program costs. The costs include, but are not limited to, prototype parts, engineering changes, tooling, material adjustments, and expedite costs.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with Purchasing / Engineering / Quality / Production Control / Cost / Accounting teams, internally and externally, as needed to support existing business and upcoming program(s).
  • Review Purchase Orders against quotation to confirm pricing and content for agreement.
  • Analyze business growth targets. Develop and implement a plan to achieve targets with overseas counterparts as appropriate.
  • Actively listen and seek customer satisfaction levels and market feedback while evaluating the data, forecasts, and results.
  • Monitor and communicate market trends and customer requests with stakeholders necessary to develop pricing strategies.
  • Create and present material to introduce and represent AISIN and our products.
  • Support new product expos, customer visits, and other events that promote AISIN and our products.
  • Support all business activities and direct customer requirements – commercial, engineering, prototype, packaging, quality and production requirements.
  • Maintain communication effectively with major OEM accounts in various areas to open discussion and promote our products.
  • Prepare Account Status reports for upper management as appropriate.
  • Prepare and assemble information for customer meetings or management reviews.
  • Review yearly/monthly business activities within established budget. Prioritize the daily work according to AISIN policies by timely consulting with the upper management.
  • Report major, weekly, and monthly activities to upper management.
  • Supervise, educate, and support staff members in achievement of short and long-term goals, including staff development.
  • Maintain ongoing communication and performance feedback with staff throughout the year.
  • Lead cross-functional standard work and process creation initiatives to scale daily production workflow smoothly.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ Sales experience in the automotive industry, preferably with a Tier One supplier relating to Toyota Powertrain products.
  • Experience with OEM purchasing procedures and systems, in particular Toyota.
  • Ability to monitor multiple account(s) of assigned program(s).
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Proven critical thinking skills and data-driven decision making.
  • Computer literacy: MS Excel (Pivot Tables, Dashboard), PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Global mindset to work with international counterparts.
  • Fluent in English with additional language skills in Japanese is beneficial.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Marketing, or Business is preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 25 %
  • Must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
