Job Description

John Keells Foundation (“JKF”) is the dedicated entity through which John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) strategizes, plans and implements its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities aligned to JKH’s Social Ambitions under ESG Priorities. JKF is a company limited by guarantee and is also registered as a “Voluntary Social Service Organization” with the Ministry of Social Welfare.

We invite applications from suitably qualified and passionate individuals within the John Keells Group for the position of Assistant Manager – Projects & Administration. The candidate selected will be based at JKF corporate office located at JKH Head Office and will be reporting to JKF’s Head of Operations.

The successful candidate will play a key role in driving strategic and impactful CSR initiatives and gain broad exposure to the exciting, challenging, and rewarding field of social development. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, he/she will contribute to projects that create meaningful change and support JKF's vision of Empowering the Nation for Tomorrow.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Project management – Manage the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned CSR projects and programmes in alignment with JKF's strategic priorities. This includes developing project plans, budgets, work schedules, and implementation frameworks; coordinating with Group companies and a diverse range of stakeholders including community partners, government agencies, educational institutions, NGOs, and service providers; and ensuring the timely delivery of project objectives and outcomes. The role requires building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, representing JKF at meetings, workshops, field visits, and other engagements, and identifying opportunities to strengthen partnerships that enhance project impact and sustainability.
  • Project Monitoring Reporting and Coordination - Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of assigned CSR projects, ensuring timely achievement of project objectives and deliverables. Collect, analyse, and present project data and KPIs to support decision-making and continuous improvement. Prepare project reports, evaluations, success stories, and other stakeholder communications, while maintaining accurate project documentation and records as per JKF processes and requriements. Coordinate project-related events, field visits, workshops, training programmes, stakeholder engagements, and recognition events, including logistics, vendor management, participant coordination, and post-event reporting, ensuring activities are delivered effectively within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Volunteer Engagement and Programme Support - Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of employee volunteer initiatives across the John Keells Group via the JKF Volunteer App, working closely with Group Business/Sector representatives to promote participation and engagement. Coordinate volunteer activities, campaigns, and recognition programmes, ensuring alignment with JKF's volunteerism strategy and objectives. Oversee the administration of the JKF Volunteer App, including project uploads, user support, data management, troubleshooting, reporting, and coordination with relevant service providers to ensure the effective functioning and continuous improvement of the platform.
  • Other administration functions – Support the administration of JKF operations, including coordinating internship placements and engagement, liaise with relevant stakeholders (internal and external), coordinating logistics for project events and CSR meetings, ordering and inventorising consumables, filing and record keeping, etc.
  • Undertake other duties as required

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Sinhala; reasonable knowledge of Tamil will be an added advantage (though not essential).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in CSR, sustainability, community development, project management, or the development sector. Experience in communications, public reporting and marketing will be considered a strategic advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, Marketing, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Effective interpersonal, teamwork and networking skills
  • Good multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from inception to completion
  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders including government institutions, NGOs, communities, educational institutions, and private sector partners.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating project outcomes.

Remuneration for the above position will be in accordance with the JKH Compensation and Benefits Policy.
