Assistant Manager (Procurement), Paediatrics & Child Health -MC-(260002VW)

Introduction

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities

You will be required to support and oversee procurement, inventory, and operational resource management activities for the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • coordinate with project teams and the Procurement Department to prepare purchase requisitions, obtain approvals, and facilitate the timely procurement of equipment, medicines, stationery, furniture, and other operational supplies in accordance with institutional policies.
  • liaise with vendors, the Procurement Department, and support units to track procurement requests, ensure timely delivery of goods and services, and resolve procurement-related issues.
  • verify the receipt of procured items and maintain accurate inventory and asset records through periodic stock verification and reconciliation activities.
  • coordinate the procurement and distribution of medicines, equipment, stationery, and operational supplies to support programme activities.
  • liaise with the Warehouse, Maintenance, Pharmacy, and other support departments to ensure uninterrupted operational support and the availability of resources.
  • maintain inventory records, oversee departmental printing requirements, and monitor stock levels to ensure efficient resource management.
  • conduct periodic field site visits to verify equipment, medicines, and operational supplies and ensure compliance with institutional procedures.
  • ensure proper reconciliation and handover of project assets and inventory upon project completion or field site closure.
  • support administrative and maintenance functions of the department, including the timely provision of supplies and operational resources to stakeholders.
  • perform any other task assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

You will have:
  • a Master's degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • three to five years of relevant experience, preferably in project management, procurement, administration, or operational support functions.
  • excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • strong organisational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • the ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise tasks while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a team player and provide effective leadership when required.
  • resilience and the ability to perform effectively under pressure and within stringent deadlines.
  • willingness to travel to community and rural field sites as required.
  • proficiency in inventory management, procurement coordination, and operational resource planning.
