You will assist the Port Operations Manager with the organization and coordination of Whittier Port services and related passenger service activities for the South-Central ports. Assists with the recruiting, hiring, supervision, performance management, discipline, and training of directly assigned personnel. You will coordinate Port Operations activities and collaborate with Anchorage Passenger Services & Luggage, Transportation, Logistics as well as Anchorage Rail Operations and all affiliated cruise staff, including Holland America Line & Seabourn, and Princess Cruises.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of Port Operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for dock and passenger operations.
  • Monitor dock operations and ensure compliance with company procedures and U.S. Coast Guard regulations.
  • Process, review, and analyze operational and performance reports to identify trends and drive improvements.
  • Support the planning, development, and execution of port operations programs to meet customer satisfaction and budgetary goals.
  • Coordinate all third-party off-site training, including vendor relationships, contracts, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of dock facility security measures in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors, tour operators, and local community stakeholders.
  • Assist the Port Services Manager in organizing and coordinating Whittier Port Services and South-Central port activities.
  • Supervise, coach, and manage assigned personnel, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, discipline, and training.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • This role requires two or more years of progressively responsible experience in transportation, port operations, or customer service operations.

  • Previous supervisory experience in a business environment to effectively lead teams and support operational goals is preferred.

  • Experience in managing employee relations, including performance management and discipline.

  • Must have a current, valid Alaska state driver’s license with a clean driving record. A company Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) will be requested.

  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with community stakeholders and business partners.

  • Must be willing to work varied schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Must be able to legally work in the US. HAP Alaska Yukon is not able to sponsor H-1 visas.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in the use of computer business application, with working knowledge of computerized reservations systems.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, to maintain an attention to detail, while working in a group or team environment.
  • Ability to clearly communicate, verbally and in writing, with all levels of employees, management, and customers.
