We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Manager – EQ Clearing and Settlements.

HSBC Derivatives Clearing Services Operations (DCS) are seeking a resource to support the effective execution of Market Assurance activities by ensuring the completeness, accuracy and integrity of trade capture, position management and Future and Options lifecycle events. The role is responsible for performing key controls, investigating exceptions, driving process improvements and partnering with stakeholders to mitigate operational risk while maintaining a robust control environment.

The role sits within Global Market Operations, and the role holder will support the management of daily operational activities related to Futures and Options lifecycle events across multiple regions, including Asia, UK, and US. The role holder is responsible for ensuring positions between exchanges and HSBC records are accurately reconciled and aligned, while maintaining compliance with exchange rules and operational controls. The role holder is expected to drive operational efficiency, identify process improvement opportunities, and support the team in delivering accurate and timely processing of critical market operations activities.

The role operates within a fast-paced and highly controlled environment, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining service quality and risk standards.

Principal responsibilities

  • Ensure positions between exchanges and HSBC internal records are accurately reconciled and investigated on a timely basis.
  • Manage and support lifecycle event processing, including option assignments, exercises, expiries, and related adjustments.
  • Process liquidation of positions and ensure timely submission of positions to exchanges in accordance with exchange rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Support regional operations across HBAP, HBEU, and HSI, ensuring consistent process execution and issue resolution.
  • Investigate reconciliation breaks, exceptions, and operational issues, ensuring proper escalation and timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, technology teams, exchanges, and onshore counterparts for operational support, testing activities, and issue management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency to reduce manual intervention and strengthen controls.
  • Assist in implementing process enhancements, system migrations, and strategic initiatives impacting Market Assurance operations.
  • Support management reporting, audit requests, risk reviews, and business continuity activities

Requirements

  • Experience in derivatives markets, investment banking operations or financial service operations.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of futures and options product and market risk.
  • Understanding trade lifecycle events, position management, reconciliations and operational controls.
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex operational issues using a risk and control mindset.
  • Experience working with multiple systems and large datasets.
  • Proven ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of exchange rules, regulatory and control requirements within financial services.
