B-II | Assistant Manager - Vessel PlanningRole Snapshot: Experience: 5+ Years | Role Focus: Working Planning Leader | Primary Accountability: 60-70% hands-on planning, shift leadership, live execution supportPosition SummaryThe Assistant Manager - Vessel Planning is a hands-on planning leader responsible for vessel setup, discharge and load plans, BAPLIE validation, crane sequencing, special cargo planning, live exceptions, and planning quality in Navis N4. The role independently plans vessels, supports execution, and coaches planners.Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Arrival Planning • Create vessel visits and validate NSD, BAPLIE, load and discharge files in Navis N4. • Review vessel profiles, bay plans, stack weights, berth windows, and service configurations. • Coordinate with carriers to resolve load list, DG, reefer, OOG, and breakbulk discrepancies. Discharge Planning • Develop discharge plans that optimize crane use, reduce restows, and improve productivity. • Assign crane work queues and sequence moves to balance workloads. • Plan rail cargo discharge and ensure safety and IMDG compliance. • Coordinate carrier approvals for restows and exceptions. Load Planning • Build load plans aligned to stability, lashing, stack weight, and segregation rules. • Optimize crane sequences, dual-cycle opportunities, and yard-to-quay flow. • Match yard inventory with load lists and resolve rolled cargo, missing units, or documentation holds. • Support productivity targets, cutoffs, and vessel schedule protection. Operations Monitoring • Monitor live vessel activity and adjust plans for equipment failures, weather, labor changes, and late cargo. • Communicate plan changes with operations, yard planning, and terminal stakeholders. • Resolve damaged containers, wrong lifts, gate delays, and hatch cover exceptions. Post-Operation & Compliance • Prepare and transmit outbound BAPLIE and related EDI files. • Reconcile planned versus actual moves and document restows, shifts, and chargeable activities. • Complete productivity and performance reports. • Ensure DG, IMDG, Coast Guard, and terminal regulatory compliance. Continuous Improvement • Maintain accurate N4 master data, vessel profiles, and service setups. • Partner with yard planners on stow strategies. • Contribute to planning standards, productivity initiatives, and system improvements. Required Qualifications • 5+ years of terminal planning, vessel planning, shipping, or logistics operations experience. • Hands-on Navis N4 vessel planning experience preferred. • Knowledge of BAPLIE, MOVINS, COPRAR, COARRI, and EDI troubleshooting. • Ability to read bay plans, vessel profiles, stack weights, and carrier stowage instructions. • Knowledge of IMDG, reefers, OOG cargo, breakbulk, empties, and restow planning. • Strong/excellent verbal (to make outbound calls and answer inbound calls) and email communication skills.• Mandatory Gate/Yard/Terminal experiencePreferred Qualifications • High-volume container terminal exposure. • Knowledge of N4 vessel profiles, service setup, configuration management, and testing. • Exposure to N4 Vessel Autostow, stowage rules, and planning governance. • Background in yard planning, marine operations, ship clerking, or terminal operations. Systems & Tools • Navis N4 terminal operating system • BAPLIE, MOVINS, COPRAR, COARRI EDI transactions • N4 Vessel Autostow • Excel-based operational analysis and reporting tools Success Measures • Vessel planning accuracy. • Timely and accurate EDI processing. • GMPH, crane utilization, and turnaround performance. • Restow reduction, exception closure, and reconciliation accuracy. • Safety, compliance, and DG adherence. • Planner capability development and planning governance maturity.
