Job Description

The Assistant Manager will support month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, headcount management, and financial controls for regional and global stakeholders. The role requires strong analytical capability, ownership of routine and ad‑hoc deliverables, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, HR, and business teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Month-End Close & Journal Activities

  • Prepare and post journals including recharges, payroll adjustments, holiday pay accruals, PSA entries, and non-IC journals.

  • Review and release balances to below-the-line accounts.

  • Prepare reconciliation files across payroll, IC, SOPO, and other balance sheet areas.

  • Identify and clear mismatches in payroll and IC reports.

  • Pro-actively identify missing charges / invoices based on understanding of forecast realization and follow up with business on cost incurred during the month, make appropriate accruals and maintain running list of accruals and underlying backing.

  • Pro-actively identifying process improvements to: -reduce manual and time-consuming tasks and enable more automated reporting deliveries, - ensure financial data input leads to meaningful, actionable information.

  • Load monthly headcount (HC) details into SAC.

  • Review actual vs forecast variances and coordinate with HR and Finance.

2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Coordinate and review monthly forecasts, quarterly forecasts, and annual budgets.

  • Prepare budget templates and upload final data into BPC/SAC.

  • Analyse cost drivers such as Market, Actuals, People Costs, Workday data.

  • Prepare Budget Review Packs and presentations.

  • Provide commentary on variances and risks.

3. Functional Spend & Stakeholder Support

  • Partner with Functional Spend leads for variance analysis.

  • Provide financial insights and decision support.

  • Collaborate with FP&A, HR, and Technology teams.

  • Attend EMEA/Global reviews on recharges and cost allocation.

4. Internal Controls, Reconciliations & Compliance

  • Maintain IC tracker and perform mismatch investigations.

  • Review DC accruals and upload workings to Group.

  • Prepare SOPs and ensure process accuracy.

  • Support audit queries.

5. Headcount, Payroll & Compensation Support

  • Track HC movements and reconcile HR vs Finance data.

  • Manage Workday-related queries.

  • Support intercompany payroll and salary summary reconciliations.

  • Build salary reports and prepare P11D workings.

6. Intercompany & Recharge Management

  • Raise ICPA requests based on business needs.

  • Prepare IC recharge files and validate templates.

  • Investigate mismatches vs forecasts or prior months.

  • Resolve stakeholder queries related to IC, Workday, and costs.

7. Process Improvement & Projects

  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements.

  • Review prior-month anomalies and follow up actions.

  • Support transformation projects including headcount tracking.

  • Provide KPI reporting including cost centre reports.

8. Overall P&L View & Control of the HQ Entity

  • Maintain end‑to‑end visibility of the Headquarters P&L, ensuring accuracy of all major cost lines including People Costs, Technology, Functional Spend, Global Allocations, and Intercompany recharges.

  • Review monthly P&L movement vs Forecast, Budget, and Prior Year to identify key variances, risks, and opportunities.

  • Perform detailed analysis of cost trends, run‑rates, accrual positions, and true‑ups to ensure the HQ entity reflects a controlled and predictable cost base.

  • Validate the accuracy of HQ allocations, ensuring recharges are aligned to Group policies and supported with appropriate documentation.

  • Coordinate with FP&A, Controllership, HR, Technology, and Global Functions to ensure P&L integrity and proactive issue resolution.

  • Build and maintain a P&L bridge explaining major month‑over‑month and forecast‑to‑actual deviations.

  • Monitor Functional Spend dashboards, investigate anomalies, and drive corrective actions across cost centres.

  • Support preparation of HQ P&L commentary for regional and global reporting packs, highlighting drivers, risks, and outlook.

  • Ensure strong financial controls by validating journal entries, accrual methodologies, and reclassifications impacting the HQ P&L.

  • Provide insights to leadership on cost optimisation opportunities, efficiency levers, and long‑term financial sustainability of the HQ entity.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI; experience with SAP/BPC/SAC preferred.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Experience in global/multi-region finance processes (preferred).

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA / CIMA / ACCA / CPA

  • 5–7 years of experience in FP&A or Financial Reporting.

  • Experience in shared services or multinational environments preferred.
