As a Assistant Manager in Market Risk Management, you'll work alongside experienced market risk professionals to monitor risk exposures, analyse market sensitivities, and support risk management activities across the trading business. You'll have the opportunity to develop your analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills while gaining practical insights into how risk is managed in today's financial markets

How you succeed

Your ability to interpret complex information, communicate findings clearly, and continuously seek opportunities to improve processes will be key to delivering value and building a strong foundation in market risk management.

Who You Work With

Market Risk Management plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank by monitoring and managing exposures arising from financial market activities. You'll work alongside market risk professionals responsible for overseeing trading and banking portfolios, and ensuring risks remain within approved risk appetites. You'll gain valuable exposure to risk management practices, financial products, and the interaction between market movements, portfolio performance, and risk outcomes.

What You Do

  • Risk Analysis: Analyse market risk exposures, risk sensitivities and key risk drivers to identify trends, investigate significant risk movements, and assess changes in portfolio risk profiles.
  • Front Office Engagement: Build effective working relationships with Front Office and relevant stakeholders to understand trading activities, hedging strategies, portfolio positioning, and emerging risk exposures.
  • Limit Monitoring & Escalation: Monitor risk limit excesses and exceptions, conduct investigations, document observations, and ensure timely escalation and follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Reporting: Support the preparation of risk reports, dashboards and presentations for management, risk committees, and other stakeholders, ensuring information is accurate, timely and insightful.
  • Sensitivity Analysis: Perform analysis of interest rate, credit, foreign exchange, and other market risk sensitivities to assess the potential impact of market movements on portfolio performance.
  • Data Analytics & Visualisation: Support the analysis of large datasets and contribute to the development of reporting and visualisation tools that enhance risk monitoring and decision-making.
  • Process Enhancement & Automation: Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, strengthen controls, increase operational efficiency, and support automation initiatives through tools such as Excel, Power BI, VBA or Python.
  • Ad-hoc Projects: Participate in market risk initiatives, regulatory submissions, audits, system enhancements, and other projects as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong interest in financial markets, treasury products, derivatives, and risk management.
  • Sound understanding of financial market concepts and basic treasury products.
  • Knowledge of interest rate, credit, foreign exchange, and other market risk concepts would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Familiarity with VBA, Python, AI tools, or other programming languages will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with large datasets, reporting tools, and data visualisation techniques would be advantageous.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate analytical findings into meaningful insights.
