Bowtie's mission is to make insurance good again. Our vision is to build a category-defining health insurance company in Asia — and we do it by combining deep domain expertise with our own proprietary technology.
We're looking for an Actuarial Manager to own actuarial reporting as we scale. You'll make sure we have a healthy, comprehensive view of our business to prepare for future growth, while keeping us aligned with the latest reporting standards.
This is a role for someone who wants more than a technical seat — you'll get exposure to senior management decision-making, mentor junior team members, and help shape how actuarial work gets done at a digital-first insurer.
About the Role
You'll work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment where actuarial reporting sits close to the heart of the business — and close to the engineers who can help you automate it.
Key Responsibilities
1. Actuarial Reporting Ownership
Own actuarial valuation and statutory reporting, providing financial projections and business insights grounded in a strong understanding of financial reporting and capital risk metrics
2. Process & Reporting Enhancement
Improve our reports, reporting capabilities, and processes — including working with the team to automate repetitive steps across the reporting pipeline
3. Methodology & Basis Review
Review and challenge the reasonableness of actuarial approach, methodology, assumptions, simplifications, and judgments applied in IFRS 17 reporting, ensuring compliance with underlying policies, controls, and risk framework, including participation in basis review committees
4. Team Leadership
Manage, mentor, and review the work of junior team members for consistency, reasonableness, comprehensiveness, and fitness for purpose

4–6 years of actuarial experience or in a similar insurance/financial role
Technical knowledge of insurance/actuarial standards (e.g. Hong Kong Risk-Based Capital, IFRS 17)
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
A strong plus: knowledge of Python
The Person
Thinks analytically and sees systems, not just numbers
Solves problems methodically and communicates the reasoning clearly
Energetic and collaborative — moves fast without leaving teammates behind
Genuinely excited about building an actuarial function from the ground up at a digital insurer
Comfortable working closely with engineers and picking up new tools
Language
English and Cantonese required; Mandarin a plus.
