About the Client
Our client is a leading property investment, development, and management company in Sri Lanka, known for delivering large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments while maintaining high standards of quality, procurement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend independently to all aspects of Notarial work, including examination of title, drafting, preparation, execution and registration of various deeds and agreements.
- Manage legal aspects of property acquisitions and development projects, including coordination with banks, external lawyers, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Liaise with government and semi-government institutions and also with any other institution connected with the legal aspects of the business, e.g. Land Registry, Registrar General's Department, Condominium Management Authority, CSE, SEC, BOI, ROC, FIU, IPO etc.
- Advise on, negotiate, draft, vet and handle all correspondence relating to various corporate/commercial agreements.
- Assist, liaise with and advise other departments of the Group in finalizing the various agreements, contracts and documents.
- Attending to Company Secretarial related work of the Group as and when assigned.
- Coordinating with external legal consultants and counsels on matters relating to the Company's Legal issues/ affairs and attending court hearings s and when required.
- Preparing documents and reports on Group compliance related matters.
- Deliver assignments swiftly and accurately, ensuring deadlines are consistently met
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Attorney-at-Law, Notary Public (with license to practice in English language in the District of Colombo), Commissioner for Oaths and Registered Company Secretary
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in notarial practice and drafting leases, deeds and commercial agreements.
- Sound knowledge of Condominium Property Law, Company Law, Company Secretarial work, Intellectual Property, and litigation.
- Proven ability to work independently, handle matters quickly and accurately, and manage complex transactions with minimal oversight
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, with a high level of professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels, self-motivation and managerial ability
