Job Description

The Assistant Manager will support the effective management of the investment portfolio through the oversight of investment operations, portfolio reporting, performance measurement and portfolio analytics. The role is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of portfolio data, maintaining robust operational controls and compliance processes, delivering timely and high-quality portfolio reporting to support investment oversight and decision-making.

The incumbent will work closely with the Investment Team, external service providers and internal stakeholders to monitor portfolio exposures, benchmark adherence and operational risks while ensuring compliance with applicable investment policies, governance standards and regulatory requirements. The role will also contribute to portfolio analysis, performance attribution, risk monitoring, and continuous operational enhancement initiatives that support informed investment decision-making and the long-term objectives of the investment portfolio.

Responsibilities

Investment Portfolio Monitoring, Analysis & Reporting

  • Oversee the portfolio review and reporting process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of portfolio valuations, net asset value (NAV), performance results, asset and sector allocations, and investment holdings.
  • Prepare regular portfolio reports, management dashboards, investment reviews, and other reporting materials to support investment oversight and decision-making.
  • Perform portfolio performance measurement, attribution analysis, and portfolio analytics across asset classes, investment managers, and investment strategies, evaluating performance against approved benchmarks and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Conduct portfolio analysis, including asset allocation reviews, risk and exposure monitoring, liquidity analysis, stress testing, and scenario analysis, to support portfolio construction, risk management, and investment decision-making.

Investment Governance, Compliance and Risk Management

  • Monitor compliance with approved investment policies, strategic asset allocation ranges, portfolio guidelines, investment restrictions, and regulatory requirements, and investigate and escalate any breaches or exceptions as appropriate.

Investment Committee & Stakeholder Management

  • Prepare Investment Committee papers, presentation materials, portfolio updates, and comparable analyses in collaboration with the Investment Team, ensuring timely and high-quality reporting.

Investment Operations & Service Provider Oversight

  • Assist in the due diligence, monitoring, and periodic review of external investment managers, custodians, fund administrators, and other service providers from both performance and operational perspectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to oversee operational matters relating to investment transactions, portfolio valuations, investment records as well as the financial reporting & audit processes.
  • Coordinate the maintenance of bank accounts, custody arrangements, account documentation, and Know-Your-Client (KYC) requirements to support the efficient operation of the investment portfolio.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or related disciplines
  • CFA, CPA, ACCA is preferable

Experience and skills:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in investment operations, portfolio reporting, fund accounting, performance measurement, portfolio analytics, investment risk or related functions within an asset owner, asset management firm, family office, pension fund, endowment, private bank or financial institution.
  • Experience in supporting multi-asset investment portfolios, including equities, fixed income, private equity, hedge funds and alternative investments.
  • Strong knowledge of portfolio accounting, fund administration, investment operations, valuation methodologies and performance measurement principles.
  • Experience in preparing portfolio reports, investment analytics, management dashboards and committee papers for senior management, investment committees or boards.
  • Sound suderstanding of investment performance attribution, risk analysis, portfolio exposure monitoring and investment compliance monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and portfolio reporting tools. Experience with portfolio management, performance measurement, data visualization, or investment analytics systems will be an advantage.
