Job Description

Working Location: Kai Tak, Kowloon

Employment Duration: 24-month contract

Responsibilities

  • Regularly monitor portfolio performance, track key financial and operational metrics, maintain accurate portfolio records and documentation, and prepare timely and accurate investment performance reports, valuation updates and supporting materials for senior management and the Investment Committee, supported by due diligence through reviewing portfolio materials, obtaining market and industry insights, analysing KPIs and unit economics
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to support the effective operational execution of portfolio activities, including funding, portfolio administration and governance processes. Work collaboratively with legal, finance and operations teams to ensure smooth implementation of portfolio strategies, compliance with internal requirements and alignment with corporate objectives
  • Evaluate portfolio investments, industries, business models, management teams and operating/financial metrics through financial analysis, valuation modelling and assessment of commercial opportunities
  • Identify strategic synergies between portfolio companies and CLP business, and collaborate to explore commercial opportunities and partnership introductions
  • Build trusted relationships with management teams of portfolio investments, providing support on strategic initiatives and business growth opportunities
  • Scope and conduct market research, customer and user analyses, and prepare industry memos, presentations and insights for internal stakeholders, senior management and executive committees
  • Design and contribute to workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives relating to venture ecosystem development

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience in venture capital or private equity portfolio administration, fund reporting, audit, valuation, investment banking, consulting or corporate internal M&A department. Experience in technology, start-ups, or venture capital fund / portfolio administration is preferred
  • A recognised university degree in accounting, finance, economics, engineering or relevant quantitative disciplines, MBA is a plus
  • Analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and creativity
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently to perform in a dynamic, multi-cultural, matrix organisation and influence outcomes
  • Capability to grasp new and disruptive technologies and startups and write exec. memos and presentations
  • Strong network within the startup ecosystem and corporate strategy teams
  • Good understanding of the venture-backed growth technology landscape (and the associated needs)
