What the role is about:

WinSport is redefining the guest experience with the planned opening of our brand-new Daylodge!

From upgraded spaces to elevated service, every element is being designed with our guests in mind, including our front-of-house experience across all Food & Beverage Outlets.

We are looking for a passionate and people-focused Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Outlets to help lead the way. In this hands-on role, you will support daily operations across the Food Court, Coffee Market, and the Eighty-Eight Bar & Grill, while supporting Catering services and other WinSport outlet locations including Hockey House and the Garden Café.

Working closely with the F&B Manager, you will help shape a consistent, high-quality guest experience, while ensuring smooth service, strong inventory practices, and a well-supported frontline team.

What you will be doing:

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Build and lead a cohesive, high-performing team by delivering clear training, ongoing coaching, and fostering daily engagement.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management in collaboration with our Team & Culture Department.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment where team members feel supported and motivated.
  • Collaborate with other Food & Beverage Department heads to develop effective weekly schedules.

Guest Experience & Service Excellence

  • Champion exceptional customer service by responding to guest needs and concerns with professionalism and urgency.
  • Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that reflects WinSport’s commitment to excellence.
  • Ensure that all front-of-house operations meet or exceed service standards.

Operations & Logistics

  • Oversee procurement, receiving, and management of inventory across outlets.
  • Conduct accurate monthly inventory counts of beverages and packaged goods.
  • Ensure availability of cash floats and maintain secure cash handling practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of all service areas and equipment.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution of events and daily operations.

Health & Safety

  • Promote and uphold all safety practices in accordance with WinSport policies and OH&S protocols.
  • Lead safety orientations for new and returning team members, reinforcing a safety-first culture.
  • Identify and report safety hazards immediately, taking proactive steps to prevent incidents.
  • Update, distribute and submit weekly Toolbox talks.
  • Stay current with all OH&S notices and ensure team compliance.

What you bring:

Experience

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven strong customer service experience in the service industry.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Proficiency in organizational and time management.
  • Problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Knowledge of Cocktail and beverage menu creation is an asset.
  • Knowledge in operating point of sale systems at a management level is an asset.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

Certification

  • ProServe Certification
  • Food safety certifications such as ServSafe or equivalent.
  • Any other relevant certifications related to hospitality management or food and beverage operations.
  • Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Clean Driver's Abstract.

Physical Demands:

  • Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and handle pressure effectively.
  • Working conditions may include either hot or cold environments.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to kneel or squat frequently
  • Must have full mobility of shoulders, arms, and hands
  • Must be able to work long hours at a computer
