Job Description

The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Assistant Manager, Financial Aid Processing, is responsible for all aspects of financial aid processing once a student receives an award letter and has accepted their packaging award. The individual will guide the team that administers the day-to-day processing duties to ensure students receive aid timely and all federal and state compliance requirements are met. This position is also required to deliver an exceptional student experience by working closely with students and internal teams to provide a comprehensive understanding of the institution, cost of attending the university and how to pay for their education. This is a campus-based position and is not eligible for remote work.

This position follows a hybrid work schedule requiring a minimum of 3 days on campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Proficient in PowerFAIDS and other software programs to review, evaluate, verify, and award financial aid to eligible applicants.
◦ Packaging incoming/continuing students
◦ Processing students program changes, reinstatements, readmits
◦ Daily Importing/exporting from COD.
◦ PowerFAIDS/Jenzabar daily transfers
◦ Transfer Monitoring/Overlapping Loan periods.
◦ Quality control of documents collected to resolve verification and comment code flags
• Assist with the verification of student class attendance prior to crediting and disbursement of aid, including review of downloaded student documents and processes state and federal Student Aid Report (SAR) corrections toward awarding.
◦ Monitoring the LDARA report
◦ Origination/Disbursement process
◦ Assist with identifying and calculating federal Returns of Title IV, post-withdrawal disbursements, and returns related to state funds
• Assist with the calculation of continuing students' satisfactory academic progress (SAP), including the review and response of student SAP appeal for aid reinstatement.
• Query reports for analysis, reconciliation, and awarding through PowerFAIDS and Jenzabar. Assist with the extraction of statistical data for planning and reporting.
• Conduct an internal audit of awarding processes and practices.
• Assist with PowerFAIDS System annual setup.
• Assist with developing and updating Office of Financial Aid policies and procedures.
• Represent the Financial Aid Office at internal and external events, such as immersion days, orientation, virtual information sessions, conferences, and trainings
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the university as it relates to admissions, academic advising, registrar, financial aid, and enrollment so that students/families are directed to subject matter experts as appropriate.
• Maintain compliance with all federal and state requirements and support the institution’s compliance efforts.

May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required and 3-5 years current experience working in a progressive financial aid office and customer service experience or similar offices.
• Prior management experience is preferred.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills are a must.
• Openet, PowerFAIDS, FSA Partner applications, and Jenzabar experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to successfully resolve student issues from request to resolution ensuring a positive student experience.
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
