Assistant Manager - Engineering
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Manager – Engineering to join our team at Alumex Prime Manufacturing Facility. The ideal candidate will support the overall engineering function by leading maintenance activities, driving technical improvements, ensuring equipment reliability, and providing hands-on leadership to the engineering team. This role requires strong analytical skills, a practical approach to problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The main job functions of this position will include:
* Lead and coordinate daily engineering and maintenance operations to ensure smooth production flow.
* Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules for all machinery and equipment.
* Oversee plant breakdown handling and ensure timely troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, efficiency, and cost optimization.
* Provide technical guidance to engineering team members and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
* Monitor utility systems (compressed air, power, cooling, etc.) and ensure optimal performance.
* Support installation, commissioning, and upgrading of new machinery, equipment, and engineering projects.
* Plan and monitor engineering budgets, spare parts usage, and maintenance records.
* Liaise with production, quality, and safety teams to support operational requirements.
* Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organizational engineering standards.
The suitable candidate should possess:
* A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized institute.
* Minimum 5–7 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to maintenance management and technical troubleshooting.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
* Experience in managing engineering teams and coordinating plant-wide maintenance activities.
* Proven ability to lead projects, improve equipment up time, and optimize plant performance.
* Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
* High attention to detail, strong planning skills, and a proactive approach to work.
* Ability to work under pressure and handle factory operational demands efficiently.
