Permanent, Full-Time | Mixed Farming – Cropping + Livestock

Ready to take the next step into a leadership role?

  • Step into a leadership role within a large-scale cropping operation
  • Work with modern machinery and precision farming technology
  • Competitive salary package including accommodation and vehicle

Wilga Farming Australia is an operating platform of Gunn Agri Partners, a leading manager of mixed farming operations for Australian and international institutional investors.

Wilga Farming is named after the native tree species Geijera parviflora, commonly known as the
Wilga tree, an inland Australian species known for its resilience in drought and its value as livestock fodder. Historically, while fertile Brigalow and Belah landscapes were quickly brought into production, land populated by the hardy Wilga was often overlooked. These legacy shapes our mission: to unlock the agricultural potential of underutilised regions and expand Australia’s productive farmland.

At Wilga Farming, we offer opportunities for growth in a purpose-driven organisation that values its people, prioritises safety, and leads with a vision for sustainable agricultural advancement. Our track record of success reflects the strength of our values and we’re growing because of them.

About the Role:

You’ll play a key role during critical seasonal periods such as planting and harvest, helping guide the team, operate machinery and keep operations running smoothly.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being out in the paddock, working with good equipment, and taking pride in getting the job done properly.

If you’re already a Senior Operator who naturally steps up, takes responsibility and helps others, this is a great opportunity to turn that into a formal leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day cropping operations including planting, spraying, fertilising and harvest

• Operate and oversee modern agricultural machinery and precision farming equipment

• Support and guide farm operators and seasonal staff

• Work with the Farm Manager to deliver cropping programs and operational plans

• Promote strong safety practices and compliance with company systems

• Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and farm performance

About You

This role will suit an experienced Senior Farm Hand, Machinery Operator or Leading Hand who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You will likely bring:

• Strong experience operating machinery in a broadacre cropping environment

• Good understanding of seasonal cropping programs

• A practical, hands-on approach to farming operations

• Natural leadership ability and confidence supporting other operators

• Experience with GPS guidance systems and modern machinery

• A strong work ethic and commitment to safe work practices

Machinery & Equipment

You’ll be working with modern, well-maintained machinery and precision farming technology across all machinery brands and platforms, including equipment such as:

  • GPS guidance-equipped tractors
  • Tillage and air seeding equipment
  • Self-propelled spray rigs
  • Large-scale harvesting equipment
  • Earthmoving and land transformation machinery

About the Property:

Presently cropping across 4 farms properties (Redhill, Lazy Creek, Currawong and Valley Farms) and a lease of a 5th farm (Dodgey Downs) with scope for further development, the property consists of 4,416ha arable cropping area running wheat, barley and canola, with ongoing soil improvement programs supporting long-term productivity.
With surrounding towns of Jerramungup, Ongerup, Borden and Boxwood Hill offering amenities, schools, sporting clubs, the successful candidate will be warmly welcomed into a supportive team and thriving community.
