Job Description

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment.

You will be responsible for

1. Corporate Communications

• Support the Corporate Affairs function in driving corporate communications initiatives, serving as the key point of contact for internal divisions and external stakeholders, including government departments and board secretaries.
• Act as Project Coordinator for WestK's key corporate publications, including the Corporate Newsletter and Annual Report, overseeing content development, drafting, stakeholder coordination, layout, and design.
• Produce high-quality corporate communications materials and ensure the quality and consistency of all communication deliverables.
• Conduct thorough research on relevant local and international issues and prepare briefing materials to support senior management's speaking engagements.

2. Stakeholder Engagement

• Build and maintain strategic relationships with external stakeholders, including media representatives, government officials, and opinion leaders.
• Contribute to stakeholder engagement strategies, message development, and the effective management of stakeholder relationships.
• Coordinate with internal divisions and government departments, including supporting preparations for Legislative Council meetings, consultations, and related submissions.
• Work closely with the team to develop and implement public affairs strategies, manage crisis communications, and effectively handle issues management.

3. District Public Relations

• Organise and manage corporate events, media activities, and stakeholder engagement programmes.
• Handle media enquiries and prepare communications materials, including media responses, press releases, speeches, and written statements for management.
• Be prepared to participate in an on-call roster, including public holidays and weekends, to ensure the timely management of urgent communications matters and stakeholder issues.

Performing any other duties from time to time as reasonably assigned by the Authority.

You should

• possess a recognised university degree in Public Affairs, Journalism, Communications, Politics, or a related field.
• possess at least 5 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity, focused on public affairs, crisis communications, government relations, or corporate communications.
• have a keen understanding of the political, social, and economic context of Hong Kong, with insights into the Chinese Mainland’s political and business environment being an advantage.
• have demonstrated expertise in managing public affairs issues and liaising with government bodies and political groups.
• have a solid track record in crisis communication and issue management within a sizeable organisation.
• have strong leadership qualities, analytical skills, and the ability to multitask, meet tight deadlines, and perform under pressure.
• have high adaptability to volatile and complex environments, with a capability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity.
• have a strong passion for the arts and culture sector, aligning with the West Kowloon Cultural District’s vision; and
• possess excellent command of English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua considered highly beneficial.
