To provide end-to-end control, governance, and analytical support for the Agro Business at the new geography in Assam, while also supporting central/HQ activities.
The role will be responsible for setting up processes, controls, trainings, and systems, ensuring strong governance across Seed-to-Chip and Seed-to-Seed, and supporting the Agro Controller (HQ) in reporting, closing, and regional data consolidation.


Responsibilities

  1. Control, Governance & Risk
  • Drive the Agro control agenda and establish a robust control framework at the new Agro region in Assam.
  • Participate in risk assessments, define and implement business control activities (BCAs), and monitor effectiveness in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with GCS, Schedule of Authority, and internal governance standards.
  • Track and close control gaps, audit observations, and process deviations.
  1. Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Ensure Day-0 month-end close with accurate books and timely submission to HQ.
  • Manage provisions and accruals for shrinkage, rottage, warehouses, MOH, freight, and other Agro costs.
  • Review seed costing, inventory accounting, and GIT, highlighting risks and corrective actions.
  • Support HQ closing requirements, reconciliations, and periodic financial reporting.
  1. Management Reporting & Performance Reviews
  • Prepare, validate, and consolidate Agro KPI reports with variance analysis and business insights.
  • Drive performance reviews with Agro teams i.e. month end results.
  • Collate and validate data from multiple regions for central reviews and leadership updates.
  1. Inventory, Assets & Field Controls
  • Ensure accurate representation of stock and assets through monthly balance sheet reviews, physical verification by 3rd party and asset confirmation from 3rd party.
  • Monitor seed pipeline, inventory movements, and warehouse/cold store governance.
  • Conduct regular site visits to cold stores and fields to ensure adherence to processes and controls.
  1. Statutory Compliance & Audits
  • Ensure compliance with local and corporate statutory requirements, including Mandi taxes and filing of returns.
  • Ensure availability and compliance of Seed, Potato, and other Agro licenses in coordination with Legal.
  • Coordinate internal, statutory, and other audits, and ensure timely closure of observations.
  1. Business Partnering & Operations Support
  • Anchor contract farming and storage agreements, including validation, approvals, and due diligence.
  • Support cold store due diligence and opening in SAP, seasonal setup, and operational readiness.
  • Support transporter contracting and related commercial processes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional Agro initiatives such as modernization projects, bulk cold stores, and cross-freight.
  1. Process Setup, Automation & Training
  • Design and implement relevant SOPs and control processes for the new geography.
  • Drive process automation and reduction of manual interventions.
  • Conduct training and hand-holding for plant and field teams on finance, controls, and compliance.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • CA with 3–4 years of experience in Finance / Controllership roles.
  • Strong hands-on exposure to month-end close, provisions, balance sheet reviews, and inventory accounting in a manufacturing or supply-chain environment.
  • Working knowledge of internal controls and ERP systems (SAP preferred) with HQ reporting exposure.
  • Ability to work independently in a greenfield/new geography and partner closely with operations.
  • Preferred: Exposure to Agro, FMCG, or agri-supply chain businesses

  • Strong control mindset with ability to design practical processes, supported by analytical and MIS skills with clear variance analysis.
  • High ownership with effective stakeholder management across field, plant, and HQ teams.
  • Willingness to travel to warehouses, cold stores, and field locations as required.
