
The Role
The position works with the global communications offices, representative offices in Asia, Hong Kong-based and global specialist departments on a full range of communications activities, focusing on press relations, internal communications and other aspects of communications, including corporate social responsibility (csr), crisis communication and public affairs. Liaison and coordination with Christie’s Asia and Corporate Communications channels where they include English language and Chinese language content is particularly important
This role plans and implements on-going communications projects and tasks, including press events, editorial, advertorial, website coordination and translations of corporate/press/editorial/advertorial materials.
The successful candidate must show an ability to handle multiple projects and priorities at one time, and deal with urgent issues in a responsive, professional and thorough manner.Strong critical thinking, research, and organisational skills are mandatory. Demonstrated understanding of the global art market and timely issues within the news cycle necessary; auction world experience a plus.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include but are not limited to
· Contribute to curating communication strategies as well as developing content for Christie’s Asia.
· Drive media pitching as well as press awareness and coverage (e.g., print, online, TV, etc.) as part of integrated marketing campaigns for Christie’s events, including Hong Kong auctions, Asia tours, previews of global sales, and other special events.
· Lead and liaise with key media outlets for editorial coverage of sales, as well as arrange interviews for senior executives and specialists.
· Develop bilingual (English and Chinese) press releases and other communication materials
· Manage and coordinate press events and interviews as appropriate to auctions and projects, from development to execution, including content curation, logistical arrangement, administrative work and follow-ups.
· Manage and coordinate with Specialist Departments to deliver press campaigns from development to execution
· Assist media with a range of inquiries, coordinating with relevant internal teams, including Specialist Departments, Legal and Compliance, and/or senior management.
· Supervise agencies/freelancers to support the Communications team, e.g., coverage reports, press clippings, media tours, etc.
The Candidate
• Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 4-6 years’ of experience in Public Relations, in-house Corporate Communications in auction field (preferred) or luxury retail brand media and communication
• Solid HK and Regional media relationship, particularly with Art, Finance and Lifestyle press
• Familiarity with intranet/internet content creation and management.Strong social media skills a plus
• Exceptional written/verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese
• Strong team player, able to work with diverse internal/external parties and comfortable to work with cross-function workmates
• Solid relationship building and people skills, able to work with ambiguity and complicated situations.
• Able to multi-task, plan and prioritize on assigned projects and tasks.
• Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, sound judgment on corporate issues and good business acumen.
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese, additional language an advantage but not compulsory.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally and with all levels of staff through Senior Management and across cultures
• Adaptable and excellent in creative writing and translation
Salary Range
HKD35,000 per month
