Purpose
Act as the key person liaising with Japan to implement the One Infrastructure Strategy — consolidating location-agnostic infrastructure functions into GO Shared Services to maximize operational efficiency across the FWD Group while respecting Japanese language, culture, and local compliance needs.
Lead the delivery of other strategic cloud projects — such as the Patching Centre of Excellence (CoE) — driving standardization, automation, process re-engineering, and cost efficiency at scale.
Serve as the cloud delivery manager for the Finance Cloud infrastructure management squad — planning, coordinating, and driving delivery of cloud infrastructure services aligned to FWD’s One Infrastructure (“One Infra”) strategy.
Key accountabilities
Japan One Infrastructure liaison
Serve as the primary point of contact between GO and the Japan BU for the One Infra strategy implementation, and liaise on the definition of scope, process deep-dives and redesign, and related change management activities.
Support the migration of vendor-outsourced, location-agnostic functions into GO Shared Services while retaining language-sensitive and local-presence functions at the JP BU, in line with local Japanese labour-law and compliance considerations.
Establish strong rapport and close working relationships with Japan stakeholders, translating requirements across Japan BU and Group Office and applying strong understanding of Japanese business etiquette and culture.
Strategic cloud projects & process re-engineering
Orchestrate the delivery of strategic cloud initiatives such as the Patching CoE and major DB modernization and upgrade projects.
Support the designing and standardization of complex infrastructure processes (e.g., server patching, EKS upgrades, EOL DB / server upgrades, SSL Certificates renewals) into repeatable SOPs and standardized GO tooling to operate at scale.
Partner with FinOps to embed cost-optimization and governance discipline across delivered services.
Cloud delivery management — Finance Cloud squad
Lead sprint planning, backlog prioritization, and delivery cadence for the Finance Cloud infrastructure management squad, ensuring on-time, on-quality delivery.
Function as the key contact point for GO Finance and Country Finance team business stakeholders to coordinate support provisioning from Group Infrastructure team to support BAU and special projects related to the Finance Cloud.
Manage squad capacity, dependencies, risks, and impediments; coordinate across GO and BU technical teams.
Ensure infrastructure delivery aligns with One Infra standards — unified landing zone, standardized tech stack, and governance enforcement.
Qualifications / experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
Native Japanese proficiency (N1 certification) with demonstrated experience working with Japanese clients or within Japanese enterprises; project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum / SAFe) is an advantage.
5+ years in cloud infrastructure delivery, project / programme management, or technology consulting, including squad management.
Proven experience delivering cloud infrastructure or process re-engineering programmes, ideally in a shared-services context.
Knowledge & technical skills
Native-level Japanese (spoken and written) and strong professional English; able to translate technical requirements across both languages.
Strong understanding of Japanese business culture, etiquette, and working practices.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud infrastructure operations — landing zones, networking, security, and monitoring.
Agile delivery expertise — scrum / kanban, backlog management, sprint planning, and dependency / risk management.
Familiarity with infrastructure automation and standardization (e.g., IaC / Terraform, patching automation, CI/CD) and ITSM processes.
Understanding of FinOps and cloud cost-optimization principles.
Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills across technical and business audiences; Cantonese / Mandarin a plus.
