Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Job Purpose

The incumbent will manage operations of the Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Assembly Line The role is responsible for achieving production targets while ensuring product quality, process compliance, safety, productivity improvement, and cost optimization. The incumbent will manage battery pack assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes, while driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with EV industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure achievement of production targets with optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and materials.
  • Manage end-to-end Battery Pack Assembly operations including cell preparation, module assembly, pack assembly, testing, and packaging.
  • Monitor and improve production KPIs such as FPY, OEE, productivity, cycle time, and line efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to process parameters, work instructions, SOPs, and quality standards.
  • Drive defect reduction through Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead implementation of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, and Poka-Yoke practices.
  • Ensure compliance with battery handling and safety requirements during assembly and testing operations.
  • Coordinate with Quality, R&D, SCM, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, and EHS teams for smooth operations.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), line trials, pilot builds, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Develop and coach supervisors, team leaders, and operators for enhanced shopfloor performance.
  • Monitor equipment utilization, preventive maintenance, and calibration compliance.
  • Ensure traceability of cells, modules, BMS, and battery packs through ERP/MES systems.

Experience

  • 5 to 10 years experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in a team handling production operations.

Industry Preferred

Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Production, Automobile or equivalent.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt or TPM will be an added advantage.

Battery Manufacturing & EV Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Lithium-Ion Cell Chemistry and Battery Pack Manufacturing Processes.
  • Battery Module & Pack Assembly Operations.
  • Understanding of Battery Management System (BMS).
  • Knowledge of Cell Matching, Grading, Balancing and Traceability.
  • Battery Pack Testing and Validation Processes.
  • Understanding of Thermal Management Systems.
  • Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) Safety Systems.
  • Experience in Battery Pack Electrical and Mechanical Assembly.

Manufacturing Excellence

  • Shopfloor Management and Manpower Planning.
  • Line Balancing and Capacity Planning.
  • OEE Monitoring and Productivity Improvement.
  • Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S and Poka-Yoke.
  • Root Cause Analysis, CAPA and Problem Solving.
  • Manufacturing Process Validation and Process Control.
  • Industrial Engineering and Work Study Techniques.

Quality Systems

  • PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and Process Validation.
  • APQP, PPAP, MSA and SPC.
  • 7 QC Tools, Fishbone Analysis, Why-Why Analysis and 8D.
  • IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Internal and External Audit Management.

Systems & Automation

  • SAP/ERP Knowledge.
  • MES and Traceability Systems.
  • Barcode/RFID-Based Tracking Systems.
  • Automated Assembly and Torque Control Systems.
  • Battery Pack EOL Testing Equipment.
