Job Purpose:

Provide support to the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting and Head of Financial Control in managing financial accounting activities, period-end books closing, fixed assets accounting, GL reconciliation and substantiation, new product accounting, finance system maintenance and transformation, process controls, and bank-wide insurance renewal, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective controls and compliance with accounting and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the Accounts Payable Manager in leading the Bank’s Accounts Payable function, including training and managing team members.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for all Accounts Payable activities.
  • Ensure invoices are processed and settled accurately and on time, while maintaining high-quality control standards.
  • Continuously review control design and effectiveness, and support system and process enhancements. Strengthen automation, transformation, and documentation controls.
  • Manage and continuously improve all Accounts Payable KPIs to meet agreed SLAs.
  • Collaborate with the wider Finance team and key stakeholders across the Bank.
  • Support vendor onboarding and approval, including related tax processes.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend remediation measures to strengthen processes and improve process maturity.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of exceptions, errors, and ageing items.
  • Contribute to process improvements, system upgrades, and the smooth implementation of the ERP system. Perform testing to support successful improvements and
  • Train ERP users across the Bank on key Procure-to-Pay functions.
  • Assist in analysing monthly expenses and explaining period-on-period movements.
  • Implement safeguards against duplicate payments and report any duplicates or errors, together with an appropriate recovery plan, to the Head of Unit.
  • Review invoices for accuracy, required supporting documentation—including purchase orders, contracts, business cases, and memos—and appropriate approvals
  • Confirm that invoices comply with FTA requirements before approving them for processing through the Accounts Payable workflow.
  • Review and clear Accounts Payable workflow requests daily in line with the agreed SLA.
  • Create vendor payment templates in iBusiness to initiate payments.
  • Record all invoices and credit notes received each day in the KPI tracker.
  • Approve staff reimbursement requests in accordance with the applicable business expense policy.
  • Ensure all daily, weekly, and monthly processes are completed in accordance with Accounts Payable checklists.
  • Liaise with business stakeholders to address queries promptly.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability and commitment to the Bank by adhering to its principles of business conduct.

Requirements

Experience & Academic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of corporate experience with a good understanding of banking practices and policies
  • Experience in an Accounts Payable function, with at least three years of post-qualification experience
  • Team leadership experience
