As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Assistant Maintenance Manager coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
    • Patrol and monitor work areas and examine tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules.
    • Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
    • Adheres to and reinforces Martin’s culture initiatives in staff meetings on a frequent basis.
    • Performance preventative maintenance frequency and default time review with maintenance supervisors, trainer, and planner.
    • Manage KPIs and uses information to determine root cause of inefficiencies to implement corrective action.
    • Facilitate weekly KPI reviews with supervisors and planner.
    • Manage EAM data entries for accuracy.
    • Manage levels of learning program by reviewing all levels annual with maintenance supervisors and trainer.
    • Ensure that work orders are completed in appropriate timeframes.
    • Work with appropriate departments and staff to schedule plant downtime to meet project needs.
    • Counsel employees about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job-skill deficiencies.
    • Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
    • Ensures cleanliness of facility is maintained.
    • Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in facilities equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
    • Receives and analyzes downtime by area.
    • Maintains preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
    • Manages parts room inventory.
    • Uses information gathered through failure analysis to recommend predictive type maintenance.
    • Reports, enforces and adheres to safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
    • Authorized to address safety, food safety and quality issues identified and reported by management and employees.

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university and three to five years related supervisory experience and/or training, preferred;
  • Associates Degree and five to seven years related supervisory experience and/or training;
  • Seven to ten years related supervisory experience without Bachelor’s Degree.
