Key Responsibilities

  • To work closely with the team to assist them to execute deals on Avaloq
  • To assist the Portfolio Managers / Directors as required, by:
  • Providing administrative support as required;
    • Effecting transactions as instructed in a timely manner;
    • Maintaining knowledge and awareness of the company’s investment methodology;
    • Keeping abreast of regulatory changes and market proactive to ensure that all dealings on behalf of clients are in compliance with all relevant rules and regulations and that investments recommended/made are suitable for the client in question and that the client is able to pay and deliver stock;
    • Checking the performance of investments and updating the Portfolio Manager/clients as agreed;
    • Preparing investment valuations and proposals.
  • To work with the Client Services team to improve and enhance workflows within Avaloq and make recommendations for change.
  • To work with other teams on company projects.
  • To build and effect re-modelling transactions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • To build an understanding of financial markets and related instruments.
  • To undertake research in pursuit of an understanding of a range of asset classes and portfolio construction.
  • To produce and analyse a range of statistical information across Portfolio Management and Client Services.
  • To become a competent user of Avaloq & other investment management systems and be available to offer assistance wherever possible to other users.
  • To be responsible for the ongoing completion of CPD and attend on-going professional training courses and events where required.
  • To take an active part in business development efforts on own initiative and as directed.
  • Attend out of hours client events where necessary.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Technical /Qualifications
  • A strong academic background with either: a minimum of 3 A-Levels (or equivalent) and relevant work experience or; a degree (or equivalent) or relevant qualification would be advantageous
  • A keen interest in the markets
  • Ability to complete relevant professional qualifications and achievement of annual CPD where required
Systems/Internal Processes
  • Experience of using Microsoft office including Outlook
  • Ability to acquire a comprehensive understanding of Avaloq and the Client Onboarding process
  • Ability to interpret Bloomberg/Fidessa/Marketaxess
  • Ability to quickly become proficient in various internal systems
Regulatory Awareness/Compliance
  • Ability to obtain a good understanding of financial regulations in Jersey and to keep abreast of regulatory changes and market practice to ensure that all dealings on behalf of clients are following all relevant rules and regulations.

    - The Financial Services (Jersey) Law 1998
    - The Codes of Practice for Investment Business
    - Money Laundering (Jersey) Order 2008 and Proceeds of Crime (Jersey) Law 1999
