Job Description

The Inventory Control Assistant is responsible for supporting day-to-day inventory control activities by accurately scanning and recording merchandise using PDD (Portable Data Device), completing assigned inventory bins, and ensuring stock information is accurate and up to date. The role requires strong attention to detail, discipline, and the ability to complete assigned tasks within defined timelines while maintaining inventory accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Scanning & Stock Verification

  • Scan item barcodes using PDT devices to capture and update inventory information accurately.
  • Verify item details, quantities, and locations during the scanning process.
  • Ensure all assigned items are properly scanned and recorded without duplication or omission.

2. Bin Management

  • Complete assigned bins as per the daily inventory plan and target.
  • Ensure all items within assigned bins are scanned and accounted for.
  • Follow the defined sequence and process for bin completion to ensure efficient inventory counting.
  • Maintain proper organization of items within designated bins and storage locations.

3. Inventory Accuracy

  • Ensure high accuracy in scanning, counting, and recording inventory.
  • Re-check items where discrepancies or scanning errors are identified.
  • Report damaged, missing, misplaced, or unidentified items to the relevant supervisor.

4. PDT & System Usage

  • Operate PDT/scanning devices efficiently and responsibly.
  • Ensure the correct item, barcode, quantity, and location are captured in the system.
  • Immediately report any PDD/device or system-related issues that may impact productivity or accuracy.
  • Follow all established inventory control procedures and system guidelines.

5. Productivity & Task Completion

  • Prioritize tasks according to operational requirements and supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain consistent productivity while ensuring accuracy is not compromised.
  • Support the team during peak inventory periods, stock counts, audits, and other inventory-related activities.

6. Compliance & Safety

  • Follow company policies, inventory control procedures, and warehouse/store safety guidelines.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to prevent damage or loss.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Ensure inventory information and operational records are handled accurately and confidentially.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 0–2 years of experience in inventory control, stock handling, warehouse operations, retail operations, or stockroom activities preferred.
  • Previous experience using barcode scanners, PDDs, RF scanners, or inventory management systems is an advantage.
  • Retail or large-scale warehouse experience is preferred.
