Job Description

About This Role

Our client is a luxury guesthouse that captures the charm of Nairobi’s 1980s hospitality—gracious, leafy, and quietly elegant. Each stay is designed to feel personal and restorative, blending old-world warmth with contemporary comfort. Our close-knit team ensures that every guest feels at home while every detail of the property reflects care and character.

Role Purpose

The Assistant Host Manager supports the Host/Manager and Assistant Host in ensuring seamless daily operations and an exceptional guest experience. This role bridges front-line hospitality with behind-the-scenes coordination, helping to maintain the luxury guest-house’s high standards of service, comfort, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Guest Experience

  • Welcome guests warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures.

  • Anticipate and respond promptly to guest needs, ensuring comfort and satisfaction.

  • Support in preparing and serving breakfast, teas, and other hosted experiences including but not limited to the afternoon tea, as well as Tea/Coffee through the day.

  • Maintain a calm, professional, and attentive presence around guests.

  • Ensure guest spaces (verandah, lounge, garden) are always clean, inviting, and ready for use.

  1. Operational Support

  • Assist in daily operational checks of rooms and common areas with the Host/Manager.

  • Monitor inventory of supplies and amenities; report shortages for timely restocking.

  • Coordinate with the gardeners and cleaning staff to maintain property standards.

  • Record and report any repair or maintenance needs promptly.

  • Liaise with vendors, technicians, or service providers when required.

  1. Property Presentation

  • Maintain the aesthetic standards of the Luxury Boutique — neat, elegant, and homely.

  • Support in preparing rooms and shared areas for arrivals, events, or photoshoot.

  • Help refresh flowers, décor, and garden setups to ensure the property always feels alive and cared for.

  1. Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Maintain daily checklists and assist in shift or operations logs.

  • Track supply usage, guest feedback, and operational notes.

  • Support the Host/Manager in preparing simple weekly summaries or updates.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality, Front Office, or related field.

  • 1–2 years’ experience in a boutique hotel, guest-house, or luxury residence.

  • Hands-on experience in guest service, housekeeping coordination, or property operations preferred.

  • Basic computer literacy and record-keeping skills are an advantage.
