Location: Toms River, New Jersey

Pay: Starting at $25.00 per hour, plus applicable evening/weekend shift differentials and overtime opportunities

Schedule: Full-Time | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

The Arc of Ocean County is looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Group Home Manager to help oversee the daily operation of one of our residential programs serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This leadership role combines direct support, staff supervision, and program coordination to ensure individuals receive quality, person-centered services in a safe and welcoming home environment.

Working alongside the Residential Program Manager, you'll help guide staff, promote independence for the individuals we serve, and contribute to the overall success of the residence.

Essential Responsibilities

Residential Leadership & Staff Development

  • Assist with the day-to-day management of a residential program and provide leadership in the Manager's absence.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support Direct Support Professionals to promote quality care and professional development.
  • Conduct routine supervision meetings with assigned staff and assist with performance coaching and evaluations.
  • Help coordinate employee schedules, shift coverage, and required staff trainings.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that emphasizes teamwork and accountability.

Individual Support & Service Coordination

  • Support individuals in developing independent living, social, and daily life skills.
  • Encourage participation in recreational, educational, vocational, and community-based activities.
  • Assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring Individual Habilitation Plans (IHPs).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to individualized planning.
  • Support behavioral programming and monitor progress toward identified goals.

Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and supportive residential environment.
  • Coordinate and monitor access to medical, behavioral, dental, and pharmaceutical services.
  • Ensure electronic documentation, medication records, communication logs, and required reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with applicable standards established by DDD, DHS, DCF, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in licensing reviews, inspections, investigations, and quality assurance activities as required.

Administrative & Program Support

  • Assist with household budgeting, purchasing, and routine program expenditures.
  • Complete required administrative tasks, reports, and documentation within established timelines.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, sound judgment, and strong organizational skills.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the ongoing success of the residential program.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities in a residential group home setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) points.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff while promoting teamwork and high-quality service delivery.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, including assisting individuals with mobility and lifting when necessary.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and adjust work hours to meet program needs.
