Job Responsibilities

The Assistant GM, Intra Asia will support the Head of Intra Asia in driving the commercial and operational performance of the assigned trade, with responsibility for achieving approved volume, revenue, profitability, and vessel utilisation targets. The role will oversee trade operations, key customer account growth, business development initiatives, forecasting, P&L performance, and stakeholder engagement across HQ, overseas offices, country teams, partners, and customers.

  • Achieve the approved COC volume and revenue budget.
  • Grow volume and revenue from Key Account Management (KAM) customers on a year-on-year basis.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers through regular engagement with Procurement Heads, General Managers, and Owners’ Representatives.
  • Conduct quarterly business trips to key locations to review performance, strengthen customer relationships, and identify future business opportunities.
  • Drive business development initiatives through close engagement with HQ and overseas offices to identify markets with low penetration and increase market share, volume, and capacity utilisation.
  • Ensure optimum utilisation of vessel capacity and other operational assets.
  • Promote inter-brand synergies among PIL, MELL, and MSCorp to enhance service offerings and optimise overall profitability.
  • Oversee monthly forecasting and business projections for the assigned trade and customer portfolio.
  • Manage day-to-day trade operations to ensure smooth vessel scheduling, cargo handling, and vessel optimisation.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and service performance.
  • Review monthly P&L performance of assigned services and develop improvement measures and action plans for underperforming services

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the liner shipping industry.
  • Proven track record in commercial, trade management, and business development functions within the shipping industry.
  • Extensive experience in managing key customer accounts, trade operations, and regional stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of the Intra-Asia trade, market dynamics, and shipping operations.
