Located on Coast Village Road, Clark’s Oyster Bar is MML Hospitality’s stylish coastal dining destination celebrating seafood classics from New England to California. Known for its bustling marble raw bar, signature martinis, fresh seafood, and vibrant patio, Clark’s delivers an elevated, high-touch hospitality experience.
MML Hospitality owns and operates boutique hotels, acclaimed restaurants, and retail spaces across Texas, Colorado, New Orleans, and California. We are seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant General Manager (AGM) who loves food, wine, and high-level guest service to join our leadership team in Montecito.
What You’ll Do
- Drive Service & Floor Leadership: Partner with the General Manager to direct daily floor operations, maintaining a strong, high-visibility presence during peak services to guarantee flawless guest experiences.
- Lead & Mentor FOH Staff: Oversee hiring, training, coaching, and performance management for front-of-house staff (servers, hosts, bartenders, and support teams), holding them to elevated service standards and deep menu knowledge.
- Financial & Operational Oversight: Drive labor efficiency, manage daily guest flow, oversee inventory and beverage controls, and assist with P&L management, POS administration, and cost controls.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work hand-in-hand with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to maintain seamless FOH/BOH communication, precise service timing, and strict operational standards.
- Maintain Standards & Compliance: Enforce brand quality, health, safety, and sanitation standards while keeping the dining room, bar, and outdoor patio running at peak efficiency.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: At least 3 years of progressive restaurant management experience in California, with proven leadership in high-volume, upscale, or boutique dining concepts.
- Leadership & Drive: Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring, and retaining strong teams while fostering a positive, high-energy work culture.
- Operational & Financial Acumen: Strong proficiency in P&L statements, labor scheduling, beverage inventory controls, purchasing, and restaurant POS systems.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English is required; fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Education & Certifications: A Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Valid California Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification required prior to start.
- Availability: Flexibility to work full-time hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements & Environment
- Movement: Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for extended periods during service shifts.
- Lifting & Dexterity: Frequent use of hands to handle tools and equipment; ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Vision & Communication: Excellent verbal communication and vision capabilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth focus).
