What you´ll do

  • Global Organization: This position allows a Connecticut-based attorney to work in a diverse, international organization with employees from 125 nations and with locations around the world.
  • Major Business Unit and Region: This position supports Henkel’s Adhesive Technologies business unit both in the United States and Canada, an organization with more than 50 locations and 4,500 employees.
  • Significant Scope and Autonomy: This position has responsibility for all labor and employment legal issues within the North America Adhesives Technologies business and will be expected to provide strategic and practical advice to both human resources and senior business leaders with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborative Environment: This position will be part of a regional legal department with more than forty committed colleagues and will work closely with the other Labor and Employment attorney who is responsible for Henkel’s North America Consumer Goods business.
  • Dynamic and Challenging Matters: The successful candidate will need to navigate the different laws of more than two dozen states and provinces, support unionized and non-unionized facilities and provide strategic insight and guidance for the regional Centers of Excellence of Compensation & Payroll, Diversity & Inclusion, and Talent Development.
  • Presence, Balanced with Flexibility: In-office presence at Henkel’s Rocky Hill, CT based headquarters is critical for relationship building with key stakeholders and colleagues, but the position also allows the flexibility of a 60% in office/ 40% remote hybrid schedule.

What makes you a good fit

  • Juris Doctor from accredited US law school; an active state bar license to practice law in Connecticut or another state, with the ability to obtain a CT Authorized House Counsel license
  • 10-15 years’ experience in Labor & Employment law working for an outside law firm, an in-house law department, or a combination of the two
  • Significant substantive expertise in a majority of the following labor and employment areas: discrimination, harassment, retaliation, employment litigation, wage and hour law, employee relations in both unionized and non-unionized work settings, restrictive covenants, immigration, government agency investigations (including OSHA, DOL, EEOC and state equivalents), reductions in force, leave management, and performance counseling
  • Solutions-oriented style, not merely a focus on issue spotting, and the willingness and ability to develop a deep understanding of the company’s business goals and objectives
  • Excellent listening, communication, relationship building, and client counseling skills
  • Judgment to prioritize competing matters and agility to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter, with an ownership approach, and a focus on excellence, not perfection
  • Highly collaborative team-player, comfortable working both independently and as part of a group
  • Commitment to process improvement and the willingness to embrace technology solutions
  • Capacity to travel domestically as required (up to 10%)

The salary range for this role is $195,000.00 and $220,000.00. This range represents the good‑faith minimum and maximum wages the Company reasonably expects to offer for this role at the time of posting. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for incentive pay or other forms of compensation, as applicable. The Company also offers a comprehensive benefits package as described above. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, experience, education, training, and work location.
