The IDFPR is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to serve in the Professional Regulation Program Counseling Section in the Division of Legal Affairs. The Office of Legal Affairs provides legal advice to the Department's Division of Professional Regulation. The Division is comprised of licensing, investigatory, and prosecutorial employees. This entry-level attorney position will be responsible for providing legal guidance on their relevant acts and rules, drafting proposed legislation and administrative rules related to the professions enforced by the Division, and providing direct legal guidance to the Director of the Division.

Under direction of the Deputy General Counsel in the Professional Regulation Program Counseling Section, researches and writes legal opinions and memoranda on issues raised by members of boards/committees, staff or the public.
Advises various boards/committees and members of the Division of Professional Regulation staff on legal and administrative issues relating to the licensing acts and rules enforced.
Monitors administrative review matters and other litigation involving the Division of Professional Regulation by alerting appropriate staff of the status and outcome of the administrative review and litigation.
Advises the boards/committees on proper procedures during the process of hearing disciplinary cases and/or the deliberation process.
Confers and advises staff on legal or administrative problems within the Division of Professional Regulation.
