About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Savoy, Zurich within the Front Office, the Assistant Front Office Manager is responsible for consistently maintaining the guest perspective while planning, organizing, and motivating the team to excel in delivering a Legendary Quality Experience to every guest. The Assistant Front Office Manager reports to the Front Office Manager and Front of House Manager.

AsAssistant Front Office Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties

  • Support, organize, and oversee the daily operations of the Front Office to ensure exceptional guest service, smooth workflow, and operational efficiency.

  • Lead and coordinate manpower planning and deployment across the Front Office, ensuring effective coverage and seamless operations at all times.

  • Handle guest inquiries, complaints, emergency situations, and overbooking cases professionally and efficiently, while personally attending to VIP guests and relocated guests to ensure satisfaction and protect the brand image.

  • Inspect VIP rooms prior to arrival to ensure cleanliness, amenities, and overall presentation meet the required standards.

  • Foster a positive, engaging, and high-performing work environment that promotes teamwork, recognition, and colleague engagement.

  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing colleagues to build a motivated and high-performing Front Office team.

  • Drive Front Office upselling initiatives, monitor performance, analyze results, and prepare monthly upselling reports.

  • Proactively identify revenue opportunities and implement action plans to maximize business performance.

  • Continuously improve departmental audit scores while ensuring full compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

  • Ensure SOPs are consistently followed and recommend process improvements where necessary to enhance service quality and efficiency.

  • Maintain close coordination with Guest Services and Housekeeping regarding room discrepancies, due-out rooms, and high-balance accounts.

  • Ensure instructions from senior management are clearly communicated, properly followed up, and effectively executed.

  • Maintain strong knowledge of hotel services, facilities, room rates, packages, and promotions, while actively promoting and cross-selling hotel offerings.

As Assistant Front Office Manager, we expect from you

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant working experience in luxury hotels with at least 1 year experience in similar positions

  • Passionate about delivering exceptional guest service

  • Pleasant, friendly and motivational with enthusiastic character

  • Service-oriented and able to work in a face-paced and dynamic operation

  • Excellent communication skills with fluent spoken in English and German

  • Superior guest resolution and problem-solving abilities are required
