Job Description

As a member of the facility management team, the Assistant Food Services Director plans, organizes and directs the delivery of proper nutrition and other food services throughout the facility. This position assumes a primary role in ensuring safe, appetizing and high quality nutrition for each and every resident.

Salary Disclosure Statement

The salary mentioned above reflects the potential base pay range for this role. Bonuses or other incentives (if applicable) are offered separately and paid pursuant to the relevant program schedule. All employment offers will consider such factors as overall experience, job-related qualifications, location, certifications/training, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform simple arithmetic and units of measurement conversions used in food preparation.
  • Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments
  • Ensures that the sanitation schedule is adhered to and employee assignments are issued daily and verify completion of to meet department infection control policies
  • Supervise the receiving and storage of food.
  • Supervise and assist when needed in food preparation and service.
  • Complete the assigned MDS section(s) in a timely manner per facility protocol.
  • Document the dietary component of the residents’ care plans per facility protocol.
  • Ensure cleanliness of kitchen.
  • Maintain proper storage of food and supplies.
  • Inform and educate residents regarding therapeutic diets.
  • Maintain records of residents’ profiles, meal census, menus, diet cardex, diet roster, diets served and purchase records.
  • Prepare work and cleaning schedules.
  • Fill-in were needed for call outs.
  • Promotes cooperative behavior and team effects.
  • Maintain menus for required retention period.
  • Plan food substitution for residents who refuse or are unable to eat food served.
  • Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct Quality Improvement audits, projects.
  • Perform Customer Service Satisfaction Surveys.
  • Always closes department using proper procedures, checks all locks, lights and insures equipment is turned off if necessary.
  • Seek staff input for decision making.
  • Effectively assesses the quality of work performed by dietary aids/porters and cooks.
  • Purchase or requisition food and supplies as directed by the Food Service Director

  • Understands that our customers are to include (but are not limited to) patients, fellow employees, physicians, visitors or community.
  • Strive to anticipate, meet and exceed the customer’s needs and expectations.
  • Expand the mission and philosophy of the company by treating everyone in a dignified manner with respect, kindness and understanding.
  • Develop and maintain positive customer service culture.
  • Facilitate monthly food committee.
  • Respond to customer complaints that are related to food service department.

Safety

  • Keep work area neat, hazard free, and free of clutter; notifying the appropriate person/department when something needs repair.
  • Insures that departmental policies and practices are followed.
  • Follows all necessary personal protection and universal precaution procedures.
  • Attends all mandatory safety in-services as required

Professional Standards

  • Abides by the standards identified in FutureCare’s Statement of Corporate Ethics and the Corporate Compliance Plan.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services.
  • Employee respects the privacy of others by maintaining the confidentiality of patient and employee information, professional or personal in nature, at all times. Employee accepts responsibility for informationwhich they are communicating.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Culinary Arts or related fields.
  • Be certified by the Maryland State approved sanitation program.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of supervisory experience in the health care industry.
  • Must have good management and communication skills
