Assistant Financial Manager

• Salary R50,000 to R54,000 per month

As the Assistant Financial Manager (2IC), you will be the right hand to the Head of Finance, ensuring that every deadline, process, and system works in harmony. You will guide a high-performing team, manage critical month-end close responsibilities, and lead process improvement and automation projects all while helping to shape the financial backbone of a celebrated brand.

Heres what you will do:

• Oversee monthly financial reconciliations, journals, and cashbook postings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Review and refine retail finance outputs, from POS cash-ups to banking reconciliations.
• Take ownership of financial systems and SOP adherence, performing quarterly internal reviews and identifying areas for improvement.
• Drive budgeting and forecasting processes, validating team inputs and surfacing key insights for the Head of Finance.
• Champion automation and system integration projects, training the team and supporting change initiatives.
• Lead and mentor a talented finance team, conducting one-on-ones, identifying skills gaps, and reviewing outputs across all finance functions.

You will work closely with and oversee:

• Senior Financial Accountant
• Financial Accountant
• Financial Administrator (Retail)
• Creditors and Debtors Clerk

We are looking for someone who is:

• A newly qualified CA(SA) or has completed SAICA articles
• Experienced in financial accounting or auditing (3+ years)
• Naturally analytical with a passion for systems and process improvement
• Confident in leading people, reviewing work, and driving high standards
• Familiar with ERP systems (Odoo experience a bonus)
