Job Description

The Position

Assistant Financial Accountant

Boehringer Ingelheim | Sydney, Australia |

Work across multiple accounting areas to ensure compliance, control and reconciliation of accounts and records, and provide reporting to internal and external audiences.

Provide accounting support to Senior Financial Accountant and Regional Shared Service Centre.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Accounting for payables

  • Manage Finance tasks for vendor maintenance requests (back up)
  • Liaise with GBS and business and provide accounting and tax information as required
  • Second level support to GBS on local coding/GST issues
  • Conduct intercompany billing

Travel and expenses

  • Liaise with GBS and business and provide accounting and tax information as required
  • Run reports, review and conduct analytics
  • Escalate non-compliance to appropriate manager

Tax

  • Prepare & lodge BAS/GST, WHT, PAYG
  • Request and send WHT statements to the Corporate team
  • Assist Senior Tax Accountant for FBT return

Other financial accounting

  • Support Senior Financial/Tax Accountant in month-end and year-end closing and mid-month review of trial balance
  • Provide accounting support to Regional SSC
  • Provide information to Controllers and business as required
  • Lead and/or contribute to Finance and cross-functional projects as required

Regulatory/Organizational requirements:

  • Sound understanding of BI accounting company policies, business systems and operating procedures
  • Requires minimal supervision
  • Capable to manage complex tasks and work with ambiguity
  • Is a role model to other team members, and actively contributes through coaching and mentoring to the growth of others
  • Actively champions the BU and Finance team
  • High levels of accountability and ownership

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting
  • Significant experience in accounting and business practices
  • Extensive background working as a accounts officer
  • Proficient in ERP systems, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional communication skills and motivation to interact regularly with the business and SSC to build understanding and relationships
  • Ability to interact with all levels of organisation
  • Organised and disciplined to ensure reliability and adherence to expectations and protocols
  • Enacts a "one team" approach via leadership on identified priorities and providing support to others
