
What’s the job?
As Assistant Finance Manager, you will be the key day-to-day Finance leader based at Kimpton Vividora Barcelona, working closely with and reporting to the Cluster Director of Finance, who oversees the financial leadership of Barcelona and Mallorca.
You will act as the right hand of the Cluster Director of Finance, taking strong ownership of the daily financial and accounting operation of the Barcelona hotel. Your role is to ensure that reporting, controls, reconciliations, credit, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, budgeting and forecasting processes are accurate, timely and robust, allowing the Cluster Director of Finance to focus effectively on the strategic and cluster responsibilities of both properties.
This role goes beyond accounting. We are looking for a hands-on finance leader and business partner who understands hotel operations, uses financial analysis and data to anticipate issues and opportunities, and helps department heads make better business decisions.
People leadership is equally important. You will help lead, organise and develop the Finance team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, efficiency and continuous professional growth.
Finance Leadership & Cluster Partnership
Act as the day-to-day Finance lead for Kimpton Vividora Barcelona, partnering closely with the Cluster Director of Finance.
Oversee the hotel's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely execution.
Support consistent financial processes, controls and best practices across the cluster.
Identify and communicate financial risks, opportunities and performance trends.
People & Leadership
Lead, coach and develop the Finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Plan, prioritise and monitor team workload and performance.
Support recruitment, onboarding, training and succession planning.
Promote cross-functional collaboration and strong relationships across departments.
Lead by example with integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
Accounting, Month-End & Financial Reporting
Lead month-end closing activities and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of outstanding items.
Review financial performance and provide meaningful variance analysis.
Ensure proper recording and classification of revenues and expenses.
Support monthly reporting requirements for management, ownership and IHG.
Budget, Forecast & Business Planning
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans.
Partner with department heads to develop realistic financial projections.
Analyse performance versus Budget, Forecast and Prior Year.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, productivity and cost efficiency.
Business Partnering & Profitability
Act as a trusted financial business partner to hotel leadership.
Provide actionable financial insights to support decision-making.
Promote financial awareness and accountability across departments.
Challenge assumptions and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
AR/AP/Controls/Audit
Oversee Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and cash management processes.
Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls and financial procedures.
Support internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
Protect company assets and maintain the highest standards of ethics and confidentiality.
Systems & Continuous Improvement
Drive process efficiency through systems, automation and data analysis.
Maintain high-quality financial data and reporting.
Support implementation of new tools, systems and initiatives.
Purchasing
Ensure compliance with procurement policies and maintain appropriate purchasing controls.
Review supplier agreements and support contract administration when required.
Work with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and monitor inventory and cost performance.
Guest Experience & Responsible Business
• Understand that Finance also contributes to the guest experience and support operational teams in resolving payment, billing and financial disputes efficiently and professionally.
Key Performance Indicators
Timely and accurate month-end closing, financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
Forecast accuracy, quality of financial analysis and budget performance.
GOP, departmental profitability and operating expense management.
Effectiveness of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and cash management processes.
Compliance with financial controls, audit outcomes and completion of corrective action plans.
Finance team engagement, development and succession readiness.
What we need from you
Previous experience in hotel Finance or Accounting, ideally in an upscale, luxury or lifestyle environment.
Experience in a supervisory Finance role, or readiness to step into an Assistant Finance Manager position.
Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, financial reporting, controls, budgeting, forecasting and cash management.
Analytical mindset with the ability to translate financial data into practical business insights.
Leadership skills with a passion for developing teams and partnering with operational leaders.
High levels of integrity, ownership, organisation and attention to detail.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial and hotel systems.
Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; professional qualifications are a plus.
Fluent Spanish and English; additional languages are an advantage.
