Job Description

Are you a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys turning numbers into meaningful business insights? Do you thrive on building relationships, influencing decision-making, and helping teams understand financial performance? If you're looking for a varied role within a collaborative and supportive finance team, we'd love to hear from you.

About the role:

As an Assistant Finance Business Partner, you'll join Ipsos' Commercial Finance team, providing financial support across 18 service lines throughout the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your finance business partnering skills within a global organisation that values collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with Finance Business Partners, operational leaders, and project teams, you'll become a trusted financial advisor, helping non-finance stakeholders understand performance, manage budgets, and make informed commercial decisions. You'll play an important role in maintaining the financial integrity of projects, preparing financial reports and forecasts, monitoring key performance indicators, and promoting financial compliance across the business.

This role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders, opportunities to improve processes and reporting, and the chance to influence business performance through data-driven insights. Whether you're supporting project teams, delivering financial training, or contributing to strategic discussions, you'll have a direct impact on the success and financial health of the organisation.

About you:

  • A proactive and confident communicator who enjoys building relationships across a business.
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in understanding the drivers behind financial performance.
  • Comfortable translating financial information into clear, actionable insights for non-finance audiences.
  • Naturally curious, analytical, and motivated to solve problems.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement and finding smarter ways of working.
  • Customer-focused, with a collaborative approach and strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in AI use and adoption, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, reporting, analysis, and day-to-day performance.

Essential skills:

  • Ability to explain financial concepts clearly and concisely to non-finance colleagues.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of revenue, margin, and cost drivers.
  • Proficient Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and basic financial modelling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines within a busy team environment.
  • Experience producing financial reports and presentations, including PowerPoint-based finance packs.

Desirable skills:

  • Part-qualified or qualified CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent professional finance qualification.
  • Experience using business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of reporting automation and process improvement techniques.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems used for project accounting, such as SAP, Oracle, or Deltek.
  • Experience working within market research, professional services, media, consultancy, or agency environments.
  • Advanced financial modelling skills, including scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
  • Exposure to SQL or other data analysis tools.
  • Experience delivering training or coaching to non-finance audiences.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of AI tools to enhance reporting, analysis, forecasting, and business decision-making.

Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you as an individual. Our standard benefits include 25 days annual leave, pension contribution, income protection and life assurance. In addition, there are a range health & wellbeing, financial benefits and professional development opportunities.

We have a hybrid approach to work and ask people to be in the office or with clients for 3 days per week. We appreciate you may have commitments outside of work and will consider flexible working applications - please highlight what you are looking for when you make your application.
