The Opportunity:
SAFC is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting various accounting functions to ensure accuracy and timeliness across our financial processes. The role involves completing monthly bank reconciliations, including currency accounts, and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded while resolving any discrepancies. You will support the preparation of management accounts and assist with month-end duties such as processing Prepayments, Accruals, Deferred Income, and Accrued Income.
You will have full responsibility for producing and reconciling daily and monthly Ticketing reports, ensuring their accuracy and completeness. The role also involves preparing and posting journal entries to maintain precise financial records. Collaboration with the Payroll Department will be essential for providing ad hoc analysis related to monthly salary deductions and annual P11D reports. Managing debtor reports, following up on late payments, and ensuring timely collections will also be part of your responsibilities.
Additionally, you will process and record all player-related bank payments, including Transfer and Agent fees, in compliance with relevant regulatory bodies. Conducting monthly currency revaluations and managing player on-loan invoicing are key duties, along with performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations to verify account accuracy. Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register is required, as well as conducting initial reviews of monthly accounts to identify and process any necessary adjustments. The role also offers the opportunity to support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed by the finance team.
What We Ask For:
The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive experience in managing the full month-end process, demonstrating the ability to independently prepare, review, and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. They must be capable of working effectively both as part of a team and autonomously, with strong prioritisation skills to meet strict deadlines. Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are essential qualities for this role. Proficiency with accounting software, preferably Sage 200, is required, and experience with ticketing systems such as SeatGeek would be advantageous. Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is highly preferred, with a proven track record of handling month-end duties from start to finish. An AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential. The right candidate will be self-motivated, adaptable, and resilient, with a proactive approach to their work and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results.
You will be required to obtain a Basic DBS through SAFC.
