For more than 30 years, BGCLC has served the youth in Larimer County. The BGCLC centers are a place for kids to laugh, learn, grow and belong. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. The BGCLC does this by providing spaces around Larimer County for youth to go to before and after school, here children can participate in numerous activities that encourage them to plan for the future, demonstrate good character, and lead healthy lifestyles.

Position Summary

The Assistant Field Director will oversee and manage the field staff team, alongside whom they will act as a substitute staff for the daily operations of before, after, and out-of-school programs. This position is responsible for staff management and development, program implementation, facilities management, licensing qualification, and maintaining strong community relationships. This position requires high energy, enthusiasm for BGCLC's mission, and the ability to adapt to the needs of the youth population being served. Successful candidates will be able to build strong professional relationships with staff, parents, Club members, and the community, as well as be flexible enough to take over any type of Club role.

This is a part-time position with an hourly pay range of $27.78 - $30.56

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and reliable attendance in accordance with scheduled work hours.
• Adhere to all BGCLC policies and procedures.
• Support Club locations as assigned.
• Maintain a program culture consistent with the 5 key elements for positive youth development
• Provide guidance and act as a positive role model/mentor to assure the conduct, safety, and development of all members.
• Help maintain facilities and equipment to ensure a productive and clean work environment.
• Maintain close professional relationships with all BGCLC stakeholders.
• Consult with Club leaders after subbing assignments.

Programming and Club Experience:

• Supervise overall Club operations, ensuring the physical/emotional health and safety of all members, volunteers, parents, and staff through BGCLC approved practices.
• Serve as a contact person for all Club stakeholders when acting as temporary Director.
• Assist with food service in the Club, following all Food Bank/Health Dept. safe food handling protocols.
• Plan, execute, and maintain compliance during full-day programming. Including Summer Site consolidations.

Facility/Property Management

• Responsible for reporting all maintenance needs of temporarily assigned Club location to the Operations department staff.
• Participate in quarterly facility maintenance walkthroughs and ensure all designated tasks are completed. (i.e., cleaning, organizing, repairs, etc.)
• Support the management and maintenance of any onsite BGCLC fleet vehicles of assigned Club location.

Leadership and Staff Development:

• Supervise and coach Club staff at the assigned work locations

Additional Responsibilities:

• Assist with other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

The Assistant Field Director must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, and must have

completed at least one (1) of the following qualifications:

1. 1+ years of Director level experience in an out-of-school workplace setting
2. A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major area of study in one (1) of the following areas:
3. Child Development
4. Psychology
5. Early Childhood Education
6. Early Childhood Special Education
7. Elementary Education
8. Elementary Special Education
9. Family and Human Development
10. Family Studies
11. Special Education
12. Outdoor Education
13. Recreation
14. Human Services
15. An associate’s degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours from an accredited college or university and three (3) months (455 hours) of experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual; or
16. Twenty-one (21) months (3,185 hours)) of, experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more children over the ages of four (4) years who are not related to the individual and one of the following qualifications:
17. Completion of six (6) semester hours, from a regionally accredited college or university; or Completion of forty (40) clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children within the first nine months in the director position.
18. A current early childhood professional credential level II (2) or higher in version 3.0

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

• Ability to manage multiple projects, people and in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have the ability to mentor and grow staff.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage youth behaviors.
• Ability to communicate and foster relationships with parents and community members.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
• Candidates must be able to pass criminal and driving records investigations, and reference checks.
• Valid State Driver's License.
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bilingual in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.

Supervisory Expectations:

• Temporarily provides supervision and coaching for staff at the assigned work location.

Independence of Action:

• Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carry out work activities independently; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.
