The work is primarily responsible for supporting the maintenance and operational readiness of County facilities including inspecting building systems, monitoring maintenance and repair work, and interacting with facility users to address service needs and concerns. An employee in this class is responsible for providing in-field oversight to ensure priority work orders are properly assigned, completed on time, and meet established maintenance standards.
The work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client needs and requests. Supervision of assigned staff is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND three (3) years of in maintenance and/or renovations/repairs included in the four building trades AND (2) two years of experience in leading teams or directly supervising staff.
May be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by Director.
Must be available during emergencies or severe weather events. This position assists in coordinating staff across departments, communicates operational directives, and helps ensure safe and timely restoration of facilities and grounds.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
Participation in the County’s Drug and Alcohol Program is required.
