He aha te tūranga - About the role:

Reporting to the Divisional Youth Manager you will assist in providing leadership, direction and support to Youth Leaders and members in our Hamilton Youth division. A team player with well-honed organisational skills, you will help to ensure the delivery of a high quality program which enhances the personal development of its members, whilst helping to identify the potential in individuals.

About the role:

  • Assist to ensure the leadership team is aware of and has access to required and available resources
  • Help with administration, developing newsletters, consent forms, etc
  • Support the division in actively working toward the goals set out in the Regional Business Plan
  • Promote attendance at required courses, meetings, and training workshops, and contribute toward ensuring information and training is shared within the division
  • Encourage involvement in competitions, events, community services, recreation activities and involvement with other divisions at district and regional level
  • Ensure all activities are suitable, relevant, and of course, loaded with fun and adventure for all participants, whilst taking care to ensure they are in line with Hato Hone St John policy
  • Encourage and support the development for Youth succession planning

St John's Youth Programme provides young people with the experience to gain confidence, empathy, life, health and leadership skills - offering a fantastic opportunity for them to experience new things and of course ... have fun! Our vision is to become the youth development programme of choice in Aotearoa; in the outcomes for young people, quality of delivery and connection with the community.

Some key requirements:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational, planning and time management
  • An aptitude for working with a diverse demographic group e.g., age, culture, background
  • An active team player with a keen interest in working with young people
  • Have a natural talent for thinking and working outside the square
  • Must be able to use a computer and have access to the Internet and E-Mail
  • Contribute a minimum of two hours per week to the role and attend overnight camps from time to time
