Position Details:

of Duties:

The Assistant Director is responsible for the vision and leadership of the Student Life unit, having substantial responsibility for leading program operations and is accountable for the allocation of resources and program results. The Assistant Director oversees management of selected partnerships and projects and develops and maintains community partnerships and projects that have campus and/or University-wide impact. Serves as a primary contact for community partners, students, and faculty.

Regularly exercises independent judgement and discretion in policies related to student leadership, student fees, student organizations, community engagement, and service learning. Has delegated authority to make commitments that affect department operations.


Work and information handled is of a nature requiring confidentiality and the exercise of discretion.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Leadership & Administration for Student Life: 50%

Fiscal Management: 20%

Strategic Planning: 15%

Supervision: 10%

Other Duties as Assigned: 5%

Required Qualifications:

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a field related to the functional managerial area which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Masters degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

  • Able to travel, occasionally overnight, to other campus locations and to attend meetings, conferences, and other site locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development and maintenance of community partnerships

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain harmonious working relationships.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with varying deadlines.

  • Ability to work with diverse students, faculty/staff, and community members.

Additional Information:

This is a full time(100 % FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.


Temporary End Date:

This is a temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2027 Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment.

Monthly Salary:

$4,942.10 - $6,255.82 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
