This is more than a residential position — it’s an opportunity to become a trusted mentor, role model, and leader within a transformational living environment for teenage boys overcoming significant life challenges.

The Assistant House Director serves as a primary parental figure within the home, helping create a culture rooted in accountability, connection, adventure, and emotional safety. Working alongside a team of dedicated Change Agents, this role co-leads a family-style residential home for six teenage boys while helping guide them through academics, life skills, mental health support, and personal growth experiences.

This is a live-in leadership role for someone who is passionate about youth development, relationship-building, and creating life-changing experiences for young people.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Leadership & Mentorship

  • Serve as a consistent, caring adult and positive role model

  • Build strong and meaningful relationships with each youth

  • Inspire participation in extracurricular and enrichment activities

  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly incentives and recreational experiences, including movie nights, weekend outings, and mid-week adventures

  • Lead activities and services aligned with each youth’s treatment goals

  • Participate in treatment plan reviews and youth progress discussions

  • Support youth through intake, transitions, and discharge processes

  • Conduct program tours and interviews for prospective youth and families

Residential Operations

  • Maintain a residence within the home a minimum of three nights per week

  • Coordinate appointments, transportation, and household scheduling

  • Manage meal planning and household food service

  • Coordinate youth allowance and debit card systems

  • Maintain organization and communication systems using Slack, Google Calendar, and Notion

  • Participate in the on-call rotation with the Program Director

  • Ensure incident reports and required documentation are completed accurately and on time

Staff Leadership & Team Support

  • Help cultivate a positive, accountable, and supportive team culture

  • Participate in staff performance reviews alongside the Program Director

  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training of new residential staff

  • Coordinate staff scheduling and time-off coverage

  • Provide coaching and support to residential Change Agents

Administrative Oversight

  • Ensure medications are administered and documented properly

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date client records

  • Ensure treatment plans, life skills reviews, and case management documentation are submitted on time

  • Support licensing reviews, audits, and compliance standards

Home & Facility Management

  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home environment

  • Oversee routine maintenance and operational needs of the property

  • Ensure common spaces, youth bedrooms, and outdoor areas remain well maintained

  • Monitor safety systems, locked storage areas, and household equipment

  • Coordinate upkeep of appliances, pool systems, and household infrastructure

Total Compensation: $85,000 per year

  • $55,000 per year

  • $10,000 Annual Bonus

  • $3,300 Max 401k Contribution per year

  • $250 monthly health insurance reimbursement

SailFuture currently operates two off-site Residential Treatment Programs, an accredited high school, and leads multi-month sailing journeys on a 65-foot sailboat throughout Central America and the Caribbean.
