Reporting to the Academic Director of Experiential Education the Assistant Director will serve as the most senior representative of the Office of Experiential Education, while supporting the overall strategy and growth of experiential learning across the faculty. Under the leadership of the Academic Director; the Assistant Director provides oversight to the faculty’s Office of Experiential Education and has direct responsibility for the day-to-day management of the team of professionals who directly support the office mandate to assist students in the transition from academic-work to practice experiences by the coordination of student placements. The Office of Experiential Education team provides students with all the necessary supports required to successfully complete the multiple, unique practice-based placements Pharmacy students are required to complete during their academic career; including local and international student placements.

The Assistant Director for the Office of Experiential Education will:

  • Lead experiential education operations, ensuring alignment with academic goals and accreditation standards
  • Oversee student placement systems, including matching, partnerships, and program quality evaluation
  • Direct data, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives to support effective decision-making
  • Manage budgets, projects, and technological systems to ensure efficient and sustainable operations
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships and agreements with experiential sites to support high-quality placement opportunities

Qualifications Required:

Education:

  • University Degree in educational leadership and/or administration; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • MBA or Master's Degree in Health Administration is an asset.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of educational leadership administration experience, including management experience within an academic unit, preferably in a unionized environment; experience working in an education setting or healthcare/clinical environment is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of program support and experience with developing and implementing administrative and business processes is requried. Additional knowledge of strategic planning, change management, and academic programs are also required.
  • Experience planning, managing and implementing projects.
  • Experience meeting the needs of students, employers, and industry partners in a post-secondary environment. Solid understanding of student placements in post-secondary education.
  • Experience articulating a vision and formulating plans to achieve an integrated service model.
  • Experience managing staff in a unionized environment.

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • The ability to motivate staff to work collaboratively toward the goals of the office.
