Job Description
Our client is a global manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Tax to lead and oversee U.S. tax activities. This position will play a key role in tax compliance, planning, accounting, and strategic initiatives while partnering with internal stakeholders and external tax advisors.
Responsibilities
- Oversee U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance, including preparation and review of tax returns and related filings.
- Manage the company’s tax accounting and provision process, including ASC 740 calculations and reporting.
- Lead tax planning initiatives and provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions and organizational decisions.
- Oversee transfer pricing matters and coordinate with internal teams and external advisors.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local tax legislation and assess their potential impact on the organization.
- Manage federal, state, and local tax audits, including coordination with external tax advisors and government authorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve the company’s overall tax position while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships with outside tax advisors, auditors, and other professional service providers.
- Provide tax guidance and support to finance, accounting, legal, and other business functions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop members of the tax team.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to tax processes, systems, controls, and reporting.
- Assist with special projects, tax research, and other strategic initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- CPA required.
- Master of Taxation (MST), Juris Doctor (JD), or other advanced tax-related education preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, with significant experience in a multinational organization.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Extensive experience with tax accounting and ASC 740.
- Experience with transfer pricing, tax planning, compliance, and tax audits.
- Experience managing external tax advisors and working cross-functionally with senior leadership.
- Prior Big Four public accounting experience is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor a tax team.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a complex, global business environment.
